Top 5: Beach Reads

We found something for everyone--from serious to scandalous to just plain hilarious.

Audition: A Memoir

When you think of a book that includes an affair with a married senator to a tumultuous mother/daughter relationship, you'd think it were a saucy romance novel, not a memoir by TV legend Barbara Walters! Sitting back, reading about Barbara's life is both entertaining and inspiring as you read how her 50-year career paved the wave for many working moms. Click here to buy.

Married Lovers

If scandalous fiction is more your speed, then no one does it better than Jackie Collins. Her new book, Married Lovers, is out June 10, but if you can't wait for a Collins' fix, try 2007's Drop Dead Beautiful and catch up with Jackie's most famous heroine, Lucky Santangelo, the mafia princess-turned- Hollywood producer and real estate mogul. We haven't heard from Lucky since 1999 in Dangerous Kiss. Click here to buy.

Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea

Feel like reliving your carefree single days (you remember--when you spent your free time dating, drinking and going on vacations with your girlfriends)? Pick up the comedienne's New York Times best seller and do just that. Although her day-to-day actions are a bit extreme, it is a funny (and easy) read. And the best part-- after reading it, you won't long for those single days of hangovers and empty relationships, but rather appreciate where you are today as a mom and wife. Click here to buy.

The Last Lecture

Looking to be inspired? This is the book for you. When college professor Randy Pausch was asked to give such a lecture, he didn't have to imagine it as his last, since he had recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer. But the lecture he gave--'Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams'--wasn't about dying. It was about the importance of overcoming obstacles, of enabling the dreams of others, of seizing every moment. It was a summation of everything Randy had come to believe. It was about living. This father of three has taken the humor, inspiration and intelligence that made his lecture so touching and written an inspiring book. Click here to buy.

Emma

Of all Jane Austen's heroines, Emma Woodhouse is the most flawed, the most infuriating, and, in the end, the most endearing. Emma is lovable precisely because she is so imperfect.  Kick back with this classic love story, it gets better every time. And if you have a teen, tell her about the book and then pop in Clueless, the movie based on Emma. Click here to buy.

Who doesn’t love an easy beach read? thanks for the list. I can’t wait for the day I don’t have to watch my kids like a hawk and enjoy the beach.
