What Do Tattoos Say About You?

A new study from German anthropologists mentioned in Psychology Today finds that perceptions of women with tattoos may not be reality. Although previous studies show that people assume women with tattoos are more likely to be heavy drinkers and more sexually active, these researchers discovered that inked women were no more "extroverted, careless, or open to new experiences" than those without tattoos.

Makes sense. These days, people of all economic, social and religious backgrounds rock the tattoo--including the mom who drives the Tuesday carpool. (Don't believe us? Ask her!)

But since perception is everything, would you let your kid get a tattoo? Momlogic moms weigh in. What do you think?

jackie.jpgI'm an 'anti-tattie'. I think it's foolish to permanently label yourself with a symbol when we are constantly growing and learning and changing our minds. If my daughter gets a tattoo I will not pay for her college.
melissa.jpgOver 18--I would just tell him to make sure that he goes to a really great artist and doesn't get some stupid girl's name tattooed on him--pick something with meaning that he's never going to get sick of and put it some place he can cover.
andrea.jpgMy son is 6, and I won't let him get a tattoo while he's younger than 18. After that, he can decide for himself. And if he does decide to go for it, it better say "Mom."

Go ahead get all the tats you want from the top of the head to bottom of your feet. Then complain that people shouldn’t judge you because of your tats. Go ahead look like some freaky walking art work. You have the freedom to do any old stupid thing you want and I have the freedom to think your tats look ridiculous and I don’t have to deal with you. The reason most people get tats and extreme piercing is to make a statement and have people stare at them. Don’t kid yourselves. It all looks stupid

Annie I pray for you that the worst thing you have to deal with your daughter is getting a tattoo. A tattoo would make you not pay for her college. God help her is she gets pregnant you will probably disown her. You are pathetic. I feel sorry for your daughter. It is parents like you who “think” you are doing what is best for your children, but all you are doing is trying to control and someday it is going to back fire

I am a ‘younger mom’ I have 10 tats. Some visable, some not. I am a very shy person and I get judged sometimes. Anyways, my son is 6 *real soon* and so far he wants 0. LOL If he does decide to get one *when he’s 18 ;)* I’ll let him. I agree tho it should be important/meaningful to him.

I am 36 and just got my second tattoo, I was 31 when I got my first. Both of the tats I have are memorials of loved ones lost. As far as kids go, I don’t have any. But if I did, it would be their choice when they become 18, I wouldn’t take them before then.
