Whoa! A new study reveals the startling truth about men and sex--and what it says may surprise you.

Many times, sex surveys feel like a bunch of mumbo jumbo. He likes sex? Really? You needed to poll 5,000 guys to find that out? But this one caught our interest, because it revealed: a) how you pointing out your flaws makes him way less into you; and b) how bug spray surprisingly turns him on. (Camping and outdoor activities are proven to pump up his passion.) News you can use!
The study included six focus groups comprised of 50 men between the ages of 18 and 70, in which the men sat around discussing women, sex, and what turns them on.
Their findings:
• An "overwhelming majority" cited the great outdoors as a huge turn-on. Activities like camping, picnics in the woods, even a summer stroll, were enough to get their engines revved. Summer camping trips, here we come!
• Think all men are ready for sex in a snap? Not so much. They found that the way a guy feels about his weight, job, and even his hair, determines how amorous he feels. As one guy put it: "If I feel scruffy or unattractive, it's just not happening." (We're not making that up.)
• Not all men watch--or even like the idea of--porn. "Seeing two people have sex without an emotional connection...it just degrades the real thing," said one subject. And he's not alone.
• The majority of men in the study cited "feeling emotionally connected to their partner" central to their libidos. According to one guy: "The most satisfying sex comes from being in love with a woman."
• What else prompts guys' passion? Head-to-toe self-confidence. The majority of men surveyed said a woman who is proud of her body--lumps, bumps, and all--is the biggest sexual turn-on. Also, the men were less likely to become aroused when a woman puts herself down. (Note to self: Stop saying how big butt looks!)
So what does this say about our take on guys? "Magazines and movies simplify men's sexuality and depict them as though they are all alike," says lead researcher Eric Janssen, Ph.D., director of education and research training at the Kinsey Institute. "Our study proves what drives men sexually is complicated and individual. Everyone is different."
