I thought Vaseline was bad for your skin??
- Olga
Yes Vaseline (petrolum jelly) was used to cover burned skin back in the day because it seals the skin from letting anything in, like moisture or bacteria. They don’t use it anymore. I wouldn’t put anything petroleum on my skin or my children’s, it keeps your skin from breathing or sweating. I will let the stars keep that secret.

ALL make-up prevents your skin from breathing to a certain extent, the best example being anti-persperants … and vaseline is essentially a barrier between the skin and the outside world. It therefore seals in moisture and is an effective lubricant. It has no moisturising properties whatsoever but it does prevent moisture loss. Has any proof been found that it is actually bad for the skin ? Don’t sleep in the stuff and never wash, don’t use it on particularly oily skin but apart from that it is perfectly safe ! And remember that sodium laurel sulphate is used in practically every foaming product you can imagine … and that is a way more dangerous product ! !
