Momlogic's Winter: Some think Michelle Obama is giving us black women a bad rap.
The question isn't whether Michelle is black and angry, but instead, is she angry, or merely being honest? Conservatives have jumped on her back because she said that her hubby's candidacy is the first time that she was really proud of her country in her adult life.
But many of us have our own frustrations with where the country is right now with sky high gas prices, a billion-dollar war, a foreclosure crisis, and debt as the new American dream. On the anger scale of 1 to 10, this black woman can probably join Maxine and Michelle--and I'm sure a few other races could join me. Mr. FOX News, a lot of Americans are angry and unhappy--not just us black women.
As the pile of minuses continues to grow with Michelle--claims of terrorist fist jabs, "baby mama" drama and her "angry" personality--she may be advised to show more of her "softer side"--a little more Jackie O, a little less Betty Ford.
Maybe a bit of softness could go a long way in November. After all, we don't want people to think "this black woman is going to be doing God-knows-what in the White House." But Michelle, don't get too caught up in this makeover, though the daps and baby daddy quips have got to go. Some of us find your honesty refreshing--I'd prefer an honest first lady candidate over one who should be a Candy Land character because her attitude is so syrupy sweet. P.S.: a secret dap from one "angry" black woman to another.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

As a gay father I’m with you. I’ve been stereotyped my entire life. I am still not proud of my country - until I can marry my partner I won’t be. Imagine if the law forbade interracial marriage? I love Michelle Obama’s fire and hope she keeps it up!
I totally agree with the opening comment. I love an honest personality, too. At least you know where they’re coming from and like it or not, you have to respect it. Personally, I love a person who doesn’t acquiesce in fear of the masses and hope Mrs. Obama continues with the realisms.
I agree with Toni. Honesty makes a presidential candidate (and his wife — not wifey or baby mama) trustworthy.
i also agree with toni. i like michelle. i don’t like phony people who will say anything to get what they want and then change after they get it.
I like Michelle. She’s smart, beautiful and eloquent…and I think that’s what makes her so fearful to the ignorant.
Add that’s she a PROUD woman of color, and the ignorant are freaking out.
Let’s face it: Most of America has NEVER been liked proud people of color…especially women. America thinks we’re uppity when we achieve and when we’re not afraid to speak our minds.
I’d MUCH rather see Michelle than any of those moronic, bumbleheaded first wives of the past with their dazed looks, drug induced, saccharine smiles and vacant minds.
Here’s to Michelle and to PROUD WOMEN OF COLOR EVERYWHERE!!!
Let’s keep on supporting each other!!
As a black woman myself.. I can’t STAND Michelle. She DOES seem to be always angry , whiny or complaining about something. The constant rants on how how she has had it is both ridicuous and foolish. It must be SO hard living her privileged little life. Give me a break. Funny how her husband voted AGAINST school vouchers while the only problem SHE had was which posh private school to send her girls too! The other thing that bothers me is her ” ain’t life hard attitude” zip it with the complaining already. and take your elitest hubby with you.
Wow Alida, what the heck are you so mad at???
FOX news is the most credible station there is, whether you choose to believe it or not. The media is SOOOO bias, that is why all you hear about is the crap from CNN and worse, MSNBC.
This article was pointless. ALWAYS trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill. No wonder they say you are angry!
I don’t care what color Michelle is, but she IS an angry woman. She is always complaining and her frown line is always apparent in her speeches. She called America a mean country in New Yorker magazine. Give me a break. She got to go to the best schools in the nation (without the best of grades - you do the math) and her husband is a senator and she’s still not happy? No thanks. I like the first ladies to be proud and patriotic. Otherwise, what’s the point?
