Cook Without Cooking

Sometimes, it is just too damn hot to cook. But it doesn't mean you can't have a home-made meal. Here's how the momlogic moms whip up a quick dish without even turning on the oven or stove:

melissa.jpg The simplest thing to make in my house is chicken tacos. I buy cooked chicken from the deli, pre- shredded cheese, lettuce, and taco shells. Then, I let my son help me stuff the shells. This makes him feel like he's cooking, and it's delicious!
julie.jpg I do the cooked rotisserie chicken and then add cut carrots and cabbage from the salad aisle. Toss it with peanut salad dressing and serve with a side of fruit. My kids love this.
jill.jpg I'm a fan of the Oven Ready Jennie O turkeys. You can find them in the frozen food aisle. Also, the new Dream Dinner phenomenon. They have various locations and in just a few hours you can pre-make an entire week's worth of dinners and store in the freezer. It's inexpensive, and once you unfreeze the meal, all you have to do is pop it in the oven or microwave.
andrea.jpg I buy precooked shrimp from the seafood department and then head over to the salad bar for some assorted greens and sides. You can make a great salad when tossing it with your favorite dressing, or put all contents into a whole-wheat tortilla to make a wrap.
andrea.jpg I get medium firm tofu and cover with finely chopped green onions and soy sauce. Believe it or not my 2-year-old daughter loves it.

Have any non-cooking tips you'd like to share?
