JCPenney Sells Housewares and Teen Sex?

What happened to family-friendly JCPenney? The department store that was founded in 1902 and isn't exactly synonymous with hip, seemingly has reached out to an upscale ad agency to give their image some edge.
The spot features two teenagers racing to see how fast they can put their clothes back on -- in preparation apparently for some underage sex in the basement of the girl's house. The ad ends with the caption "Today's the day to get away with it."
Produced by Saatchi & Saatchi New York, the video, which won an international advertising festival award at Cannes and just went viral on YouTube, is said to be a fake, not endorsed by JCPenney. But what do you think? Is JCPenney trying to create scandal, massive brand awareness and then quickly deny involvement, or was the ad produced, as JCPenney's legal department claims, without their knowledge?

No…most definitely this is not okay.
This has to be one of the most tasteless advertisements I’ve ever viewed. It’s wrong.
It’s a pretty good ad.
JCPenney was deeply disappointed to learn that our name and logo were used in the creation and distribution of a commercial that was submitted to the 2008 International Advertising Festival at Cannes. No one at JCPenney was aware of the ad or participated in the creation of it in any way. The commercial was never broadcast, but rather was created by a former employee at JCPenney’s advertising agency, Saatchi & Saatchi, solely as an award submission without JCPenney’s knowledge or prior approval. JCPenney does not approve or condone its content, and we have asked Saatchi & Saatchi to apologize to our customers and our Associates for misrepresenting our Company in this manner.
What’s the big deal? Teens have sex. Instead of trying to keep them tucked under a rock, teach them about sex and its consequences. When the day comes that my children chose to have sex, I’d rather they be enough in-the-know to use a condom as opposed to be clueless because I was too afraid to talk to them about it. Stop being so terrified of sex people, it’s where we all come from and that isn’t going to change just because you don’t like it.

OMG. I don’t really even know what to say to this. WOW.
