Madonna and Guy Ritchie headed to divorce court? For months, the rumor mill has been churning about a split between Madonna and her director hubby, Guy Ritchie. Now, the Times of London reports the Material Girl is close to hiring Fiona Shackleton, the famed divorce attorney who represented Paul McCartney in his recent epic divorce trial. Madonna and Guy have been married for 7 years.
Obama and Clinton unite democrats: For the first time since their June meeting, Senators Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama appeared together at a Washington, D.C. fundraiser last night where Hillary asked her supporters to back her former rival. Obama is also urging his large donors to help Clinton pay off her $10 million debt and even wrote her a personal check for $2,300, the maximum amount allowed. Today, Obama and Clinton will take the stage at a rally in Unity, New Hampshire, where they tied in the January primary.
Principal stands by pregnancy pact comments: Joseph Sullivan, the principal at the center of the Gloucester High School pregnancy scandal, is defending his comments made to the Time magazine reporter who broke the story. While he cannot remember one primary source to validate the pact claims, Sullivan says he never used the word pact when talking with the reporter. However he called the seventeen pregnancies "deliberate and intentional behavior."
More math, less standardized tests? An Associated Press survey finds many Americans believe schools are emphasizing the wrong subjects. Over one-third of those polled say more focus should be put on math, while only 21 percent said the same about English. Biology, chemistry and the arts also received minor support. Americans have mixed views about standardized tests, which have grown in importance in recent years. Only fifty percent polled believe standardized testing is a good gauge for the quality of education students receive. The other half? Not so much.
