In this case, discipline turned deadly.

A couple tied their 13-year-old son to a tree with plastic ties and nylon rope for two nights to punish him for disobeying. The boy died of cardiac arrest as a result, and now the father and stepmother have been charged with murder and felony child abuse.

The county sheriff's office has said Brice McMillan told a deputy the teen was being disobedient and was forced to sleep outside last Tuesday while tied to a tree. The teen was released Wednesday morning, but again tied up that night for bad behavior.

Arrest warrants for both McMillans said the child sustained "bruising to the wrist, cuts to entire body, missing flesh from buttocks, results from being tied to a tree for approximately 18 hours resulting in death."

The couple's 7- and 9-year-old children have been placed in state custody. If this couple does somehow manage to dodge the murder charge, do you think they should get their other kids back?

Why in hell would ANYONE think these “parents” deserve to get their children back? All they deserve is a tiny, lonely cell with no outside contact. Or a needle in the arm, depending on what state they’re in.

Umm…Hell no!

I ad one other thought - the title of this story is “When Irresponsible Parenting is a Crime.” Since when is TYING your child to a tree for 18 hours considered “irresponsible parenting”… because last time I checked, that’s called CHILD ABUSE.

NO FREAKING WAY! You might tie a dog to a tree, but you don’t tie your kids to a tree. If any parent thinks that is ok behavior, then maybe they need to get tied to a tree!

NO, no, hell no! Those other kids are at risk of suffering the same fate if not worse.
