Back to School: What NOT to Buy

Former model and ex Mrs.Russell Simmons, Kimora Lee Simmons launched her line of tween clothes at JC Penney. Moms, would you buy this for your girls?
"Fabulosity," the new "sportswear" line by KLS, just launched at JCPenney. Although the press has done a great job making it sound better than it is, moms should know that the skintight knit dresses, school girl skirts and painted on high-waisted jeans should have a warning on the label: might cause disturbance. Though the items are reasonably priced, we wonder: What happend to wholesome looks for our girls? We did some digging, and as it turns out, KLS isn't the only guilty party -- there are lots of other trends out there that should probably stay out of the class room:

1. Tube Top Maybe this is reasonable for a trip to the beach but paired with a skintight pair of jeans? Not good. $19.99 |

| 2. Pleated Skirt A little too "Britney" for our taste. Let's remember boys at that age. $29.99 |

3. Romper We were shocked to find this in the back to school section of a large department store. $29.99 |

| 4. Denim Skirts Unless she's wearing tights underneath, this super short denim skirt barely hits the thigh. $14.99 |

5. Vests Did they forget the rest of this vest? Look for a longer option if she insists on wearing this trend. $9.00 |

I went shopping with my girls and it’s SO HARD to find anything that is NOT slutty in any department stores. It is SO frustrating!!! Every celebrity has a line now, the problem is that they are in their 20s and 30s marketing to 13 year olds. I don’t know where to go or what to do for my girls-they don’t wear uniforms…please help!

I shop online: land’s end, ll bean, gap kids, old navy cute jeans, sporty & girly tops, skirts & dresses that don’t need short AND reasonably priced!

THANK YOU, You are right. Old Navy especially because they are a little more reasonable than Gap. I think LLBEAN is a little bit expensive and my daughters think too preppy.
