We're happy that he's staying fit -- but if you were his girlfriend, would this bother you?

Photogs have spotted the usually shirtless actor working on his tan and physique several times since baby Levi was born on July 8. We understand the importance of maintaining his look for his profession, but does his girlfriend, model Camilla Alves, get the same luxury? We would've loved to have all that free time after our babies were born -- except a little thing called a newborn got in the way. We couldn't help but wonder if Camilla's pissed. Check out this timeline of events. Is this worthy of new mom wrath?

July 8, 2008 - Matthew and Camilla's bouncing baby boy, Levi, is born.

July 11, 2008 - Three days after the birth of his first son, Mattthew McConaughey is spotted jogging in Malibu.

July 13, 2008 - Matthew is spotted again jogging in Malibu.

July 15, 2008 - Yep, you guessed it -- he's seen jogging yet again in Malibu, this time with his personal trainer.

July 16, 2008 - Instant replay: Matthew jogs with his personal trainer again in Malibu.

July 19, 2008 - Two times the fun -- Matthew is spotted jogging in Malibu and went surfing later the same day.

July 22, 2008 - The new dad is spotted catching some waves in Malibu.

July 25, 2008 - Matthew's jogging yet again in Malibu.

July 27, 2008 - Matthew is spotted jogging and surfing in Malibu, this time with baby Levi and Camilla along.

What do you think? Would you let this fly?

is it really that big a deal? so he’s jogging. i know a lot of parents who like to work out after they have a baby. you don’t know that he is ignoring his responsibilities, i mean all of these activities are not ALL DAY consuming that he is leaving her alone for huge periods of time.

leave him alone - it’s good he’s getting out, it’s healthy. i’m sure they have 11 nannies.

What? A guy has a kid and he’s supposed to give up his exercise routine? I applaud him!

His body pays those bills. I bet she doesn’t complain one bit.

There is nothing wrong with having a life when you have a baby. If his wife is out and about town also, even better! You should never change your life because you have a baby. You incorporate them and share your interests with them and it makes them a better parent and your child more well rounded!

This is a ridiculous story. Exercise is a great way for new parents to relieve stress. If he was out at a bar or a club every night, then you’ve got something to complain about.

My concern is with a newborn out in in a public place at all. My newborn didn’t leave the house for a month, just to keep the risk of germs down. A newborn should never be carted off into the heat and grim of a sandy beach where hundreds of people (and probably a few dogs) have spent the day. I’m amazed the new mom would let the child away from her side but maybe she doesn’t know how to stand up for herself with an egotistical husband who cares more about his image than the safety and well-being of his child. I’m sure he loves his baby but use common sense and error on the side of preventative measures. It’s great that Matthew likes to keep fit but leave baby at home.Duh.

Good for him to get out and making time for himself. I bet Camilla is getting her time as well. We all know that new parents take turns with giving each other time for themselves. Plus if I was Camilla and Matthew was my man I would have no problem with him keeping up his awesome body. I would just be happy that he was MY man.

Where did it say that he took the baby with him surfing or to the beach? It was jogging that he had Levi with him and Camilla was with them too, all together as a family. Ever parent is different about when they take their baby into public places. Jogging and fresh air is good for the baby, it is public places that can have germs.

HUH? It wouldn’t bother you if you were alone with a newborn baby while your husband tended to his physique all day??? I think it’s ridiculous! She’s dealing with the baby while he’s out sunning surfing and getting his two hour exercise routing out of the way. After carrying a baby for nine months I’d want it to be my turn. He’s selfish.

Eileen - keeping your newborn home for a month (or more) after birth is an old wives tale. As long as they aren’t eating the sand or anything, they’re fine. If anything, the more germs you are exposed to, the healthier your immune system.

Just because he’s getting some time to himself that automatically means that he’s not helping out with baby and mom isn’t getting any free time? It’s not like he goes to the office all day, when he’s not shooting a movie working out IS his job. 8-5 in an office or 2 hours working out… hmmm… seems to me like he sees his kid more then my hubby does right now.

Not to mention, I’m sure she is not all alone at home with the baby. They usually have nannies or family with them a lot.
