The Dark Knight sets box office record: Holy box office, Batman! Fueled in part by the death of Heath Ledger, who gives a maniacal performance as The Joker, The Dark Knight has taken in more than $155 million in its first weekend in theaters, and beat out Spiderman 3's previous record of $151.1 million in May 2007.

Woman claims she bought baby for $1000: Pittsburgh police found the body of a woman with her hands bound in the apartment of Andrea Curry-Demus, 38, who showed up at a hospital with a newborn she falsely claimed as her own. Police said Curry-Demus arrived at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh with a newborn that still had its umbilical cord attached. (Tests later proved she was not the mother.) Curry-Demus claimed she miscarried and didn't want to upset her mother with the news, so she befriended a pregnant woman and paid $1000 for her baby. Police found the body on Friday after reporters reported a foul odor coming from inside Curry-Demus's apartment.

Missouri woman sues for discrimination against pet monkey: Health officials say a woman filed a lawsuit against Wal-Mart after claiming the store had discriminated against her and her pet monkey named Richard. Debby Rose says her bonnet macaque helps her social anxiety disorder, which causes her to have panic attacks in public, and that the Health Department lacks the authority to decide Richard is not a service animal under the Americans With Disabilities Act. Health officials had sent letters to restaurants and grocery stores, advising them to ban Rose and her monkey.

Man busted for fake divorce: An Indian man wanted to divorce his wife so badly that he took an impersonator to court to pose as his wife. Sanjib Saha presented the woman as his wife and both sought a mutual divorce, which the court granted, and Saha's real wife was asked to leave the home the shared. She has appealed the ruling at a higher court, charging her husband with cheating, and the original divorce was suspended.
