Christian Bale assaults his mom?: The Dark Knight star Christian Bale has been arrested for assaulting his mom and sister Sunday, the night before his blockbuster movie premiered in London, TMZ reports. British police sources say he went to a London police station this morning by appointment and was arrested there. The actor's rep said in a statement: "Mr. Bale, who denies the allegation, co-operated throughout, gave his account in full of the events in question, and has left the station without any charge being made against him by the police. At this time, there will be no further comment by Mr. Bale."
YouTube divorce settled: Philip Smith was granted a divorce from Tricia Walsh-Smith on the grounds of cruel and inhuman treatment, after she trashed him in an infamous Internet video. In the segment, Walsh-Smith spoke about their sex life, and described his family as "bad", "evil", and "nasty" before calling her husband's office to relay the information to his assistant. The judge called the video "a calculated and callous campaign to embarrass and humiliate her husband." According to the ruling, Walsh-Smith must vacate their shared apartment and Smith must pay her $750,000. "I think it's disgusting," she said. "I'm really, really disappointed with the decision."
Salmonella found in pepper: Government officials say the source of the latest salmonella outbreak is the Mexican-grown jalapeno pepper. They have warned people to avoid eating fresh jalapenos until they can pinpoint where the bacteria came from. Currently, it's unclear if the pepper became tainted on the farm, plant, or anywhere in between. The infected pepper "is an important clue but the investigation is far from complete," said Caroline Smith DeWaal of the consumer advocacy Center for Science in the Public Interest. However, tomatoes are now considered safe to eat.
911 call played in sleepover slaying: In an attempt to solve a murder mystery, Oklahoma police replayed a segment of the frantic 911 call from a relative who reported two girls found dead in a ditch. The tape was released six weeks after the bodies of Taylor Placker, 13 and Skyla Whitaker, 11 were found along a remote country road in the town of Weleetka. Both girls had been shot. A woman is heard on the tape saying "Somebody killed two young girls. They are both down here dead. My granddaughter and her friend..." The girls had planned a sleepover at Taylor's house on June 8, the night they were killed. Police hope airing the tape will encourage someone to come forward with information.
