Doctor falls asleep during lipo surgery: Dr. Loren J. Borud, a plastic surgeon who has struggled with substance abuse for the last six months, has had his license temporarily suspended. Borud is accused of performing two operations while impaired, the latter of which involved him falling a sleep while giving a patient liposuction. However, even if the medical board had known of the situation earlier, they may not have necessarily suspended his license. Medical board spokesman Russell Aims said, "It would really depend on the circumstances. It would clearly be a much more serious matter if there was patient harm or potential for patient harm."
