Plush Toys Bare All

A new ad campaign uses toys to warn parents of the hidden threats of the Internet.

Things that appear innocent may not be what they seem, warns a new series of ad using naked versions of plush toys to illustrate the threat of sexual predators communicating with our kids online. The photos, designed for an Internet provider in Brazil, show a cow, a monkey and a bear in various states of undress with the caption "Children can learn many things on the Internet." We're really not sure if it's going to get their message across--or just traumatize kids to see naked stuffed animals.

And if you think there's something a little creepy of looking at a fuzzy cow's naked ass, Artist Matt Kirkland has taken it upon himself to rip apart stuffed mechanical toys--leaving nothing to the imagination.

Hey, it’s true. Kids see too much on the internet. They see too much on the tv and in movies too. I have always been very careful about what my son is exposed to. I’ve made plenty of mistakes as a mother but I don’t think that monitoring his tv, movie and internet activity is one of them. I once attended a childrens party where the host was laughing about the “cute” way her two year old was screaming “monster” the previous night when they were watching a movie that, frankly, I don’t think I could have stomached. My son comes home and mentions movies all the time the other kids are talking about and I cannot believe their parents let them watch them. Or play the games they do, or go to the websites they visit. Sorry, but that is lazy parenting. Our kids are only young once, why not let them be innocent for as long as possible?? And I think that nearly any ad campaign (sometimes they just go overboard) that draws a parents attention to this problem is a good thing.
