Brits Like 'Em Big?

A U.K. fashion magazine conducted a survey to find the perfect body. Do you think the results would be the same here in the U.S.?

Men are a mystery -- we're never quite sure what they consider "the perfect woman." One minute they tell us they don't like us to wear too much makeup, the next they're ogling some tramp on the street who's made up like a hooker. Or a real hooker. Then there are the body questions. Do men really love "handles" or do they lust after the waifish starving model look?

Fabulous
, a U.K. fashion magazine, conducted a survey to try to get to the big bottom of the ideal woman conundrum and discovered men and women have conflicting opinions on what's a hot bod. Here at the office, we were very, very happy with results -- most of us have size 10 nailed -- until we asked the only guy who works here for his pick. He immediately choose Tillie, the size 6, as his perfect woman. Of course, no one has spoken to him since.

Blimey, what gives? Do our steak-and-kidney-pie-eating (820 calories a serving!) British cousins just like a little more meat on their bones? Or do you think --  based on this survey -- we can all lay off our diets and not worry so much about body image?

Yeah, personally, I think it’s all about proportions. Bar obesity, I think a girl of any weight with some well proportioned curves to her is very attractive. And even then, being confident about yourself does so much more for your beauty than any makeup.

All 3 of these women are at a healthy weight. There are many misconceptions about larger shaped women being unhealthy and fat when its not that at all. People forget that bone structure, age, metabolism, and genetics/medical issues factor in with a person’s weight. Everyone should exercise and eat healthy just to keep their bodies functioning correctly. But when your goal in life is to be a size 4 and 100lbs, thats just sad.

A lot of you should also realise that the sizes given here are UK sizes, so a size 14 being average in the US, is clearly a US 14 and not “Caroline 14” Just also so you know I’m not bullshitting a size 14 in the UK measures as 29 1/2” waist and 39 1/2” hip, in the US it is 32 1/2” waist and 42 1/2” hip. @Erika I’m not 100% sure on this one but I think the author made the mistake of mixing up UK/US sizes, if not then I agree with you, there is no WAY a size 12 is fat or big.

Anna looks like a dude with a bubble butt from the back. Sorry.

I would go for Caroline over either of the other two. And being a size 14/12 means nothing. My ladyfriend is about that size, and she is in better health than most people I know. Weight and size is not always about fat. Muscle weighs more than fat does, but is more compact. Add on a healthy (note: HEALTHY!!! As in, enough to keep you warm, and to protect your insides) and being a 14/12 is pretty much normal.

I think that all of you that say that any of them are fat haven’t even SEEN fat. The size of your body certainly does not disqualify you from beauty in any kind of way. One of the loveliest women I’ve ever seen is bigger than any of those women. But she has a prettier face, prettier skin, and a nicer smile. She’s also funny beyond belief, and uncommonly smart. And to say that because she is socially known as overweight doesn’t make her unattractive. Nor does one being size four disqualify them from the same measure of beauty. I think that this discussion is interesting, and those of you that have the tenacity to judge had better be absolutely esthetically stunning. Good luck with that.

just because someone is a size 12 or 14 doesn’t make them unhealthy, I know many people who are very active and perfectly healthy and they just aren’t naturally skinny.

Cara Clark, I am the same size as Anna and by no means am I fat at all. You must have no self worth to have married any man that would leave you if you gained a few pounds. Thats not love.

Guys, don’t worry about CaraClark, if her husband wants to continue to have sex with someone with the body of a ten year old boy, then let him!

It’s really more about attitude than anything. If a woman really enjoys sex then most men will enjoy it too. If you wanta be sexy you’ve gotta be horny.

DAmn…you can tell that this article was written either by a fat chick on PMS or a lesbian for sure. Sonds like one of those fat chicks on Ricky Lake. All conceited also she was, JUST because she was a female…F her : |

Yes, 14 is average, and yes that is somewhat on the heavy side. Just because it’s average doesn’t mean it’s not fat.

I think that Caroline and Tillie are equally beautiful, but I don’t care for anna. I think they could have come up with a much sexier woman to be a size ten. That’s what Marilyn Monroe was.

How many kids does the skinny one have? I have three and think as long as you are happy with your body, size doesn’t matter that much. No one is perfect and I’ll bet even the skinny ones have something about their body they are unhappy with.

I love that people think that the average size has changed all that much. Marilyn Monroe was a “big” girl but everybody thinks that she’s a picture of beauty. The average size is larger but not by that much…..LOL. Much Love to all the “big” girls out there…size 10 rocks!!

“Just because size 14 is the average doesn’t make it healthy or attractive.” To the anonymous poster who wrote the quote above: Just because someone is a size 6 (or even smaller) doesn’t make them healthy-or attractive-either. Have you not read about the “skinny-fat” epidemic we have in our country. Women who are as small as a size 2 have been labeled this because though they may appear to be thin, they are no healthier than a person who may be MANY sizes larger than she. I suggest that before you open your mouth, you do your research. Someone also said they are a size 12 but larger tham these women…you have to take your body composition into mind. You may have a higher percertage of body fat, or even just a totally different bone structure, including height, that makes you appear that way. If you exercise and eat well, you are doing just fine in my book.
