These three moms were armed and dangerous before they were caught.
•Kelly Forbes, 29, killed her husband Michael Forbes, 50, in their Long Island home by strangling him with an electrical cord on Nov. 21, 2007--while her 7-year-old daughter slept in a nearby bedroom. The two were newlyweds, married only two months. Forbes says the murder was committed in self-defense, claiming her husband was physically abusing her. However, authorities say there is no evidence the woman was abused. Forbes was sentenced yesterday to 21 years in prison.
•Susan LeFevre, 53--a California mom who escaped from a Michigan prison more than 30 years ago and started her life over--is back behind bars. In 1976, at age 19--with the help of her grandfather--LeFevre climbed over a fence at a state prison after serving a year of a 10 to 20-year sentence for selling heroin. This past April, she was arrested outside her home in San Diego. LeFavre says because everyone in the Scott Correctional Facility in Plymouth knows about her past, she is nervous about being harmed. "She's extremely uncomfortable ... She's been reminded she's the suburban mom," her attorney told reporters. He is trying to get her drug sentence thrown out of court.
•Jessica Gonzalez--who has been imprisoned since 1996--is pregnant and about to be paroled. According to The Providence Journal, while Jessica Gonzalez was serving 45 years for the murder of Maria Rivera, she allegedly had sex with a supervisor at her work-release job. However, the Parole Board denies her early release has anything to do with her pregnancy. The Journal says according to prison rules, inmates are not disciplined when sexual misconduct occurs between staff and inmates. Instead, the staff member involved is punished. Gonzalez was 13 years old when she killed 23-year-old Rivera after an argument over a boyfriend.
