'Dress' Gets Girl Booted

Tuesday, August 12, 2008

First, it was the case of a criminal prom dress. Now, a young woman is tossed from the mall for wearing a short dress. Funny thing is, she bought the little number at that very mall hours before, and the dress in question was actually a shirt. See the fashion crime and tell us--is she cute or should she get the boot?

Every year, girls' dresses seem to be getting shorter and shorter (as we get older and older). But when they're wearing shirts as dresses...hmmm. Kymberly Clem, 20, was thrown out of a Kentucky mall Saturday because the "dress" she was wearing was deemed too short by security guards. (Who knew they had such power?)

"The article of clothing that she is trying to pull off as a dress is actually a top--it was purchased at one of our retail stores," says Vickey Strunk, Richmond Mall manager. "We have a dress code here...if you are coming here to shop today, and you come in wearing a top with no pants, then we are going to ask you to leave."

Clem tells a different story: "I was walking through and 10 minutes after I was there, the security guard approached me, asked me to step aside, made me completely do a turn around while he stared me up and down and then asked me to leave because my outfit was too provocative and people's husbands was [sic] looking at me."

Men weren't the only ones staring.  One mother with small children complained because she says Klem's dress was so short you could see her thong.

The tank shirt, called a club shirt, was purchased at a Deb clothing stores in the mall. "We've seen this a million times," says a rep from Deb Stores. "Girls are always buying shirts as dresses--it depends really on your height, whether you can pull it off."

Because of the incident, the Richmond mall says they might have to update their dress code. "On our doors we clearly have posted 'no shoes, no shirt, no service,'" jokes Strunk. "Well, I guess I'm going to have to add 'no pants' to that."

Do you think the trashy looks sold in stores should be banned from malls?

What's up with wearing a shirt as a dress?! It's just one of the many fashion trends we wish would go away. Check out our photo gallery:

IS it a dress?!? If its a shirt then she needs to wear something underneath. There are two crimes committed here: 1. Her lacking common sense and 2. Her lack of fashion sense. Maybe she spoke with God and He told her to wear the shirt like that. Honey it isn’t the husbands you need to watch out for in the malls, its the serial rapists!

This is ridiculous. I think that everyone should be able to wear what every they want. I went to Wawa and a girl walked in there with a bikini on and it was posted no shirt, no shoes, no services. Did she get service? YES. I don’t think that anybody has the right to tell me what I can and cannot wear out in public as long as I look decent and she looks fine to me.

It’s amazing how uptight so many people still are. Get over it. It’s a cute little dress and is in no way trashy.

LMAO! I love all these negative responses here. You can tell who the women are by the catty responses. Thank god I live in Cali. Micro dresses are embraced here. TEE!

The dress was just as fine as the girl wearing it. I seen nothing wrong with it one bit. It’s every day attire here in Florida. I guess in those hillbilly towns though they could get a bit excited because there’s not much beauty there to look at.

There is a time and place to wear this outfit and a shopping mall is NOT the place. I just wish I had the figure to wear something like this but not to shop in. Now what about the OVERWEIGHT people who do not dress well, ones that wear spandex and a short shirt should be kicked out as well. What about the men with their bellies hanging out of their shirt cuz it’s too small, why not kick them out. Others are staring as well.

Helloooooo, if you are in a mall with your thong hanging out…you might just be an exhibitionist. That’s ok too, just post your cooch on the internet with the other like minded sleazebags!

I think they had every right to ask her to leave if her butt was hanging out. I don’t care how cute and little she is. She should cover her privates when out in the public.

Yes I think clothes of certain offense should be banned. That dress, booty shorts, tops with boobs hanging out, sagging jeans held up by a belt under their butts so their boxers are exposed. This is not needed in public places and parents of the minors should know better..i dont want to shop or take my small kids to the mall or any where else for them to see that. Use it at home or the clubs, not malls, proms, dances, doctors office…u get the picture!

She bought a shirt and tried to wear it as a dress. The mall has a dress code. Everyone has to adhere to rules of some kind. Instead of whining because she was thrown out of the mall for wearing NO PANTS, she should be crying from embarrassment for dressing like a total skeeze in public.

So let me get this right, it is ok for mothers to nurse their babys in public, with their saggy boob hanging out. But it is not ok for a young girl with fully covered body parts to go to the mall. Something is seriously wrong with this picture. But of course jealousy from the staring husbands wifes has nothing to do with it. What a joke.

From the front, it is obvious that the dress would barely cover her butt.
