'Dress' Gets Girl Booted

Tuesday, August 12, 2008

First, it was the case of a criminal prom dress. Now, a young woman is tossed from the mall for wearing a short dress. Funny thing is, she bought the little number at that very mall hours before, and the dress in question was actually a shirt. See the fashion crime and tell us--is she cute or should she get the boot?

Every year, girls' dresses seem to be getting shorter and shorter (as we get older and older). But when they're wearing shirts as dresses...hmmm. Kymberly Clem, 20, was thrown out of a Kentucky mall Saturday because the "dress" she was wearing was deemed too short by security guards. (Who knew they had such power?)

"The article of clothing that she is trying to pull off as a dress is actually a top--it was purchased at one of our retail stores," says Vickey Strunk, Richmond Mall manager. "We have a dress code here...if you are coming here to shop today, and you come in wearing a top with no pants, then we are going to ask you to leave."

Clem tells a different story: "I was walking through and 10 minutes after I was there, the security guard approached me, asked me to step aside, made me completely do a turn around while he stared me up and down and then asked me to leave because my outfit was too provocative and people's husbands was [sic] looking at me."

Men weren't the only ones staring.  One mother with small children complained because she says Klem's dress was so short you could see her thong.

The tank shirt, called a club shirt, was purchased at a Deb clothing stores in the mall. "We've seen this a million times," says a rep from Deb Stores. "Girls are always buying shirts as dresses--it depends really on your height, whether you can pull it off."

Because of the incident, the Richmond mall says they might have to update their dress code. "On our doors we clearly have posted 'no shoes, no shirt, no service,'" jokes Strunk. "Well, I guess I'm going to have to add 'no pants' to that."

Do you think the trashy looks sold in stores should be banned from malls?

What's up with wearing a shirt as a dress?! It's just one of the many fashion trends we wish would go away. Check out our photo gallery:

A YOUNG LADY WITH MORALS WILL NEVER WEAR SUCH A DRESS! THIS WOMAN IS LOOKING FOR SOME PUBLICITY AND SHE IS GETTING IT FROM ALL SIDES…NO PUN INTENDED! THEY KNOW IT’S WRONG TO DRESS LIKE THAT, BUT THEY DO IT TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS. IF THE MEDIA STOPS WRITING ABOUT IT, THEN SHE WILL CHANGE HER AHHHH..HER TUNE (DRESS).

This girl did nothing wrong. Why should someone who eats right and exercises be punished for showing off their body?If you are a woman and agree with this girl being kicked out of the mall then you are probably fat and very unattractive.Get to the gym and maybe one day men will check you out.

I see nothing wrong with the dress. I’d let my daughter or my wife wear it. Some ugly ole hag probably complained because her husband looked.

It’s was bought as a shirt. A shirt is not a dress. WHERE’S THE COMMON SENSE HERE. Kymberly Clem is an Idiot. SHOW HER THE DOOR EVERYTIME UNTIL SHE GETS SOME SENSE. Nicole: The mall does have a right to ask her to leave. The mall does have the right it posted a dress policy. Understand? Cute plus Dumb = Pretty Stupid MIKE

o k 0 k ——-its not at all a problem. the real problem here is: why were so many people looking in the first place????? i mean, like did Kym jump in front of them and yell and dance???? no i dont think so. i have long held a single thought: and it is how i raised my own four children (two girls, two boys) beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. so if you think smut, then you see smut.

I agree with the person who said that the pic posted can’t be the right one. I really don’t see anything wrong with it, as a dress or shirt. And unless she was bending over or somebody was laying under her, I don’t see how they saw thongs (is the back see-through?). We take things too far nowdays. People where shorts shorter than that.

she looks skanky and trashy…a girl who dresses like that obviously craves attention from people, even if it’s negative…and i don’t think that they should ban selling clothes like that, because most women (at least classy ones) know how to wear them.

Why, oh why do young girls insist on looking like little hookers? Dressing like a tramp and then boo-hooing because you are called out on it is ridiculous. She knew she was looking like a tramp and pushing the boundaries of appropriate or she would not have worn a shirt as a dress…and to the mall at that. Grow up.

Far too many women and young girls (11 and under) wear tons of makeup and clothes like hookers. The child copies mom, so the child hasn’t been taught properly.

If she wants to wear the dress, she shold be allowed to. But if it was showing her thongm then that’s wrong. I have no problem what people wear, nor choose to judge. If you wan’t to wear a shirt as a dress, go ahead. If you want to rip your jean capri’s into shorts, feel free to. But I don’t want my children seeing thongs, or boobs hanging out. That get’s a little too much. &It’s giving the wrong image to my children. One day kids will turn around and say “Mommy can I wear this thing and t shirt to school”

Grody on August 12, 2008 10:24 PM wrote: I don’t need to see anyone’s thong. Thanks, but no thanks. She didn’t sound to bright either so I guess she’s unable to read and tell the difference from shirt and skirt. Is her goal in life to pole dance? Why the need to show her ass off and then brag she wore even worse. Oy. Well Grody, from your grammar and sentence structure you don’t appear to be the brightest bulb in the box either. BTW, it’s too, not to.

She seems to be proud of the fact that “peoples husbands were looking at me” What a hoe..All I can say is if they were looking it’s because that’s what men do honey especially if your underwear is showing! Men will look at anything..But once you open that dumb mouth of yours with that dumb accent they wouldn’t be checking you out anymore. I wouldn’t be flattered if I were her.

That dress is not inappropriate or inordinately provacative - give the girl a break. Perhaps the security gaurds need to pay less attention to the girls and more to their jobs. And April, her underwear is not visible.

Why don’t they escort out some of those big obese people? Excessive visable celulite or fat guts should be banned too, under that code. Ban baggy pants and tattoes, they’re disgusting too. Apparently some women got mad, because she had a good body and maybe they don’t. If their husbands can’t look without gawking, maybe that is their problem. Is it OK to look like a pig, but not a beauty. What is wrong with you people. Maybe it is about time we stopped be politically correct and grow up. It is a tough, troubled world out there. How about the old saying, if you can’t say something nice, just don’t say anything at all. Put your eyes back in your head and mind your own business!
