Must-have dorm gear? Video games of course!
We spend years scrimping and saving to send our kids to college -- and once the big day arrives, we want to make sure they have everything they need. Best Buy suggests some "must-have" dorm gear, including an HDTV, Xbox and Guitar Hero III set. Are they are kidding us? What teen is going to hit the books with a room crammed full of the latest video games?
What do you think -- is this really the "best buy" for college-bound kids?

Well, you want your kid to be popular, too, right? LOL.

It’s all about balance. If the teen is mature enough to put his or her studies first, then I don’t see the problem of having a TV and video games in his or her dorm. But, for most teens, you’re correct in saying that they really shouldn’t have these things in their dorm. But, on another note, at least the teens aren’t drinking and partying! =D

Well, my boyfriend had guitar hero in his room last year, and we all spent a LOT of time in their playing, and we all still managed pretty good grades - the lowest in the group was a 3.2, and we even had a 4.0 among us =] It’s a lot of fun and a great group activity, but not so fun as to take over one’s life. Leave that to world of warcraft (which DID ruin my boyfriend’s roommate’s GPA). And Kaitlin - don’t be so sure. I usually played mom to my drunken floormates, and I witnessed quite a few inebriated Guitar Hero sessions. =]
