This tearjerker reminds us of the bond we share as moms--even with those who aren't human.

Gana, an 11-year-old gorilla at a German zoo, was a mother of two. For reasons unknown, she rejected the daughter she had last year named Mary Zwo. The Daily News reports Gana did form a strong bond with her second child, a son named Claudio, and the two were inseparable until Saturday -- when the 3-month-old suddenly died in Gana's arms from unknown causes.
Just like any other mother, Gana is terribly upset and shaken. She continues to carry Claudio's lifeless body around and will not release it to anyone at the zoo. This behavior is reportedly not uncommon for a mother gorilla.
Our hearts ache for this grieving mom, and she reminds us that all the feelings, worries and emotions associated with motherhood are universal.
