Bill Clinton delivers a moving speech in support of Barack Obama.
Okay, we can exhale now. Loose Cannon Clinton got in line and did what he needed to do: Made the Democrats remember why they love him so much.
In ten minutes of pure Bill Clinton, he made a powerful case at the Democratic National Convention last night for why Barack Obama should be our next President. Clearly Bill's months of downright freaky behavior didn't totally ruin his standing in the party - he couldn't get the audience to stop cheering him. "You all sit down, we have to get onwith the show," he said.
Where Hillary's speech Wednesday night left her wiggle room for a 2012 run, Bill's was pure endorsement. "I say to you: Barack Obama is ready to lead America and restore American leadership in the world," Clinton said. "Barack Obama is ready to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. Barack Obama is ready to be president of the United States."
In a convention that was often a battle between No Drama Obama and the Clintons who run on drama and caffeine alone, Obama won. The newly minted nominee strutted onto the stage after Joe Biden's speech and stole the show. "Hello, Democrats!" He yelled. And with that, Obama took the reigns from the Clintons. It's his party now.
