Is that Britney Spears? A slim and composed Britney Spears appears in new ads for MTV's Video Music Awards. "You are Britney Spears, right? I'm not dreaming this am I?" asks British host Russell Brand in the ad, which also features a 9,000-lb. elephant. MTV can't confirm whether Spears will appear on the show airing on September 7, but her appearance is a telltale sign. Spears is up for 'Best Female Video' and 'Best Pop Video' this year. Cult starved toddler who wouldn't say 'Amen': A toddler's remains were found inside a suitcase in Philadelphia after he was starved to death by members of a religious cult--including his mother--because he wouldn't say "amen" after meals. Ria Ramkissoon and three other members of a group called 1 Mind Ministries were charged on Sunday with first-degree murder in the death of Javon Thompson. Members viewed Javon as "a demon." Ramkissoon, 21, is being held in a Baltimore psychiatric ward and a bail review is scheduled Tuesday.

Can you be fat and healthy? Half of overweight people have normal blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol levels and an equal number of thin people suffer from the same ills associated with obesity, according to the results of a new study conducted by the University of Michigan. But study authors say the research shouldn't send the message "that we don't need to worry about weight" because half of overweight people do face elevated risks for heart disease. However, for those without high risks, losing weight may be only important from a cosmetic perspective.

Did Edwards' affair hurt Hilary? Howard Wolfson, Hillary Clinton's former communications director, said Clinton would probably have won the Democratic nomination if John Edwards' extramarital affair had been revealed last year, which would have forced him out of the race. However the Obama campaign says Clinton was never the second choice, saying after Edwards dropped out of the race in January, Obama won eleven straight contests in a row.
