Michael Phelps to host SNL: The famous Olympian will make his acting debut when he hosts the 34th season premiere of NBC's Saturday Night Live on September 13. A holder of seven world records, Phelps, 23, has been at the center of media attention since winning eight gold medals at the Olympics. Past Olympians who have hosted SNL are skater Nancy Kerrigan and skier Jonny Moseley.
Dead couple leaves mean will: A Brooklyn couple, murdered in their home last month, spoke from the grave in their drafted last wills, leaving strange messages for the people they detested in life. "To my brother, who I know hopes to be in my will, well, here you are," wrote Mark Schwartz, 50, as he left zilch to his sibling, Robert, in a 2006 draft. In an earlier version, Schwartz had already left his brother "the sum of zero ($0.00) Dollars," adding, "I believe this sum is fitting, as you are probably the most greedy person I know." And, "Robert, brothers are supposed to want each other to be the most they can be and make the most money they can. You, on the other hand, just sat in judgment of me and were always jealous."
Cheerleading uniforms too short? A new dress code for cheerleaders is frustrating parents at an Ohio high school. Superintendent Elizabeth Lolli says cheerleaders were instructed to wear long shorts and T-shirts underneath their skimpy uniforms at a pep rally Friday. "The skirts that the cheerleaders wear are very short, and they're very tight and they're slit so they can do the gymnastics that are required of a cheerleader," she said. Parents say they paid a lot of cash for the uniforms and think the girls should be allowed to wear them.
Missing Connecticut dad found drunk: Police in Illinois found a Connecticut man who was reported missing last year, but it remains a mystery why he left his wife and son. Officers were responding to a complaint about an intoxicated man early Friday and that man turned out to be Samir Patel, who disappeared last October. Police checked Patel's driver's license and found he'd been reported missing by wife who had put up posters around town when he disappeared, and his co-workers offered a reward. Police say it isn't clear why Patel left Connecticut.
