Friday, August 29, 2008

• Palin is a member of the National Rifle Assocation and supports the Constitutional right to bear arms. "I grew up hunting and fishing in Alaska and I am proud to raise my children with this same uniquely Alaskan heritage," she said in 2007.

•She is an opponent of same-sex marriage.

•She believes in the early funding of education and full funding of K-12.

•She strongly opposes abortion, and favors the death penalty.

•She is the mother of a soldier and has stated: "As I watched our military men and women being deployed, I recognized how important it is for their families to know how much Alaska and America support them."

Sarah, might not be the first woman to be nominated for VP --Geraldine Ferraro beat her out in 1984-- exactly the same year Palin won 2nd place in an Alaska beauty pageant. Click here to see her in her Miss Wassilla crown.

You forgot to add that she is against a woman’s right to choose even in cases of rape, incest, and risk to the mother. She is against listing the polar bear on the endangered species list because it will impede on oil drilling and is even sueing the government over it. She believes in teaching creationism in public schools. She doesn’t believe in global warming. And she’s being investigated for ethics violations for firing a safety commisioner because he refused to fire her ex brother-in-law. She’s not someone I would want in the white house. She’s no Hillary, or Kay baily hutchinson, or Elizabeth dole, or olympia snowe or many other qualified women leaders.

Look at you Diana! Posting the same message twice! So bears and trees are more important that the human life growing inside you!!!! Better hug your mother and thank her for the “choice” she made. And she would be investigated for ethics if she didn’t get her brother-in-law fired because of who he is/was. It is better to be looked at for making the right choice instead of the easy choice like you are doing.

I’m wondering how other moms, working or not, see the prospect of holding national office while having five kids, one with special needs. I am a working mom myself, with only two, and stretched to the absolute max. I am also an older mom who went through amnio and discussed the possibility of Down syndrome with my OB-GYN, who himself has an affected child. He said a special needs child will take 90% of the family’s time and 90% of resources. Can you run on “family values” when election will mean that someone else takes over caring for your kids? Can you really be a mom and be President? I couldn’t—my kids have to come first, and the country needs a President who puts the country first. Do other moms have these same questions? I’d have said, “no, thank you” to McCain.

Jenni, we each have a right to our own beliefs on a woman’s right to privacy and who controls her body, her or her government. I do also worry a great deal about the legacy we leave our children. I for one want to leave them one with clean air and water. I am not willing to sell that legacy to the highest bidder of big oil and industry for them to make unreal profits while most of us struggle for the basics. Also, I find that firing someone based not on their job performance, but because they won’t do your bidding on a personal issue is unethical. Also, if you do your research you will see that she supported that bridge to nowhere before she was against it. Kerry got trashed for being for something before being against it and flip flopping. Let’s hear the truth.

I’m excited to see her on the VP ticket - now I can vote Rep with a clear conscience. I’m thrilled to see a real person on the ticket and not just another establishment clone.

Please Please do a search on Sarah Palin and her ex brother in law. Know the story before spreading half the story. The brother in law’s name is Mike Wooten. It comes down to him abusing Sarah’s sister and threats to their father. The Ex brother-in-law used a taser on his ten year old stepson and admitted it. I don’t know of any state that will let a law enforcement be one while being investigated or charged with domestic abuse. He had to be fired and the public safety commissioner was not doing that. So by all that is right, they both had to go and as her job as governor she had to do the job. Because of the “family relationship” it needed to be reviewed and it wasted over $100,000 of taxpayer money. The bridge would cost America $398 million in 2007 and congress dropped allocations for it. Alaska would have to pick up any remaining cost. The two towns on each side of the bridge were only 15,000 residents and 50 residents. Why spend that much money to replace a ferry for that many people? So Alaska spends money on that or gives its residents a tax break!!! What would you do as governor? If she were a man with five children would you “moms” imply that he will be neglecting his children for the race and VP position? Seems like a double standard to me! She is bringing home the bacon and frying it up in the pan!! I am proud of her and I think she is a true real person and exactly what we need as a country. We don’t need another person who is not in touch with real life leading our lives. KERRY WAS A JOKE!! He flip flopped on every issue. We truly don’t know Obama’s issues because he wasn’t in office long enough to leave a record other than attendance. Watch him - he can only answer questions with a script. The rest of the time and when placed on the spot all he does is hum. That doesn’t make me feel very secure. The job of president isn’t a script to read! Maybe his writer should run - they have the same amount of experience and it would save some script writing time. AND about the latest news – A child, no matter the circumstance, is a blessing. And
- Research!!!

I’ve struggled for the last 5 years trying to have a baby. I don’t understand why this woman would run for the second highest office of our country when she still has 4 “children” to raise and one of those with special needs. If I had heard that her husband had taken more of the “nurturing” role, then it would be different. Sorry, but because I am a woman who wants to be a mother I just do not understand her at all. Yes, you are correct we don’t question a man on this subject like we do a woman. Someone has to be the nurturer and genetically woman tend to take this role. It doesn’t matter if the man does instead, but for the child’s sake one parent has to.
