Pet Owners Are Disgusting

Guest blogger MustHatePets says forget saving the animals--let's save our own kind first.

no_dog_owners_sq.jpg

I'm sick and tired of pets in this country being treated better than people. In fact, the country as a whole seems to be more worried about needy dogs than we are about needy kids. The average cost of a dog with a 14-year life-span averages from a little over $4000 to a little under $40,000! Sixty-three percent of households in the United States own a pet. Imagine if all that money went towards needy children?

Think about why we even have pets in the first place. It's a guarantee of unconditional love. These animals have essentially become slaves to humans over the years. Pet owners are even referred to as the animals' master. We like it and celebrate it and think it's grand. People leave their pets in small cages all day while they are at work. They feed them the same food every day and punish them when they beg for diversity in their diet. If they have an accident on a floor they were never supposed to be walking on in the first place, they get smacked. How is this OK?  It's not like pets are good for you.  A new study says that kids who grow up with pets are more likely to be snorers as adults, essentially proving that living with animals is unsanitary.

I also think zoos, circuses and rodeos should be illegal. How is it right to pull innocent animals from their natural habitat, constrict them in a small area with fake nature so that people can gawk at them and throw soda cups in their faces? No wonder animals attack their trainers and zoo attendees.

Just because it has been done for so many years doesn't make it right. Many people drive and walk by homeless people daily and don't do a thing or say a word to anyone about it. If they see a stray dog, they fly into action. It seems the world has gone mad and no one says anything about it.

Many argue that pets teach children responsibility and zoos teach kids about other species. We live in a time where we have plenty to read and watch to learn anything we want to know about animals. So my child will not have a pet, nor will she go to the zoo or the circus--and I'm confident she'll thank me for it later.

Actually, numerous studies have shown that petting dogs and cats lowers blood pressure and stress. In addition, the have been known to be real mood boosters and health boosters when tkane to visit the elderly and sick children and others in hospitals. Hm, lower blood pressure or an increased risk of snoring? I agree that it can be ridiculous how much money people spend on pets, but to each their own. Instead of complaining about pet owners why dont you go have a fundraiser for needy children? Go volunteer abroad or at local organizations?

OMG! Get over yourself! “HUMANS” are the most dirty , violent creatures on this planet! They breed unchecked , even knowing they carry genetic deformaties , or diseases , and justify it by saying, that child is a “special” gift from god! (No ethical breeder of animals would ever even consider anything like that!) There are NO natural enemies to humans except for eachother….. at some point hopefully nature will take care of it , she has before , she will again. Greed , polution , war , over population , is mans legacy to this once beautiful planet. The offspring of humans are rude little versions of the adults….kids nowadays feel they are owed something ….. with very few exceptions , they do not know how to work for anything they have or want , they EXPECT it to be given to them! They have NO respect for anything or anyone. You say we pass by homeless on the streets …well I believe “humans” are capable of makeing their OWN choices. JET A JOB! PICK STRAWBERRIES OR SOMETHING! THE WORLD NEEDS DITCH DIGGERS TOO! Animals make this planet more beautiful than we do. For those who embrace them as pets or even for those who hunt , or merely observe….respect them. They make life rich and worth living.

I sure hope that you have NO children! I hate to see them grow up with such hate and bitterness, and them having a dog woulod tech love, compassion, and patience! Maybe you should get a pet, it sure sounds like you really NEED one. I don ‘t hit my dogs when they have an accident, I correct them as I would my children, they DO have a choice in what they eat and my dogs LOVE their crates. That is their safe place, they are never closed and they go in them when they want their own quiet time or to sleep. Its up to them. You need to take your angry bordem elsewhere!

I’m an animal lover and I still agree with you. We do spend more time and money on our pets than we do on the homeless and hungry. I’m personally guilty.

WAY TO MUCH TIME ON YOUR HANDS. I have cats and have had them all my life, dogs to. I was raised with pets in my home, all the pets that I ever had were either picked off the street or from an animal shelter. They didn’t ask to be here, but they are. SO someone has to take care of them and apparently you are not one of them. What I do not get is the people who get pets then cannot handle them and throw them to the streets, and it’s people like us who rescue them and raise them to live a happy live, at least I like to think that is what I am doing. I have 8 cats, 2 mothers with and their 3 kids each. I do not believe in breaking the family up, the first set, the mother is 7 years old and her kids are 6 years old, the second mother she is 22 months old and her kittens are 17 months old. I took this cat from her unfit owners, she was five months old, malnutrition and pregnant, they [the owners] worry more where their wine was going to come from than food for their cat, before taking her from them, I supplied them with scoopable litter and a case of Friskies Prime Filets. They did not have a litter box or cat food so I supplied them with both. AFTER TWO WEEKS of this cat showing up on my back porch to eat I went and confronted them, they still had the litter in the original box and not in a litter box and the case of food was never touched. My cats all see their Doctor for their shots when they are suppose to, they are in good health. I raised my children and they are raising their children so now I raise my cats. They are considered my children and all respond with the love and affection we give them and they give back, they listen and they don’t complain. Find something else to complain about, there are many many pet lovers and rescuerers out there and this is a subject that you do not want to deal with in negative manner.

I have 2 cats and they mean so much to me. I disagree with the pet owners that treat their animals like royalty, but then again i also disagree with spoiling children rotten. I do hate it when people treat their animals better than they do their children…but if that person has no children then no one is being mistreated. I’m a responsible pet owner. I have a lot of health problems and my cats are very very clean. To make this clear, i do not have health problems BECAUSE of my cats, I got them a few years ago because I have to be home alot due to illness and they have helped to improve my spirits and are probably the most loyal cats in existance. Both were rescued. Pets can be a huge help to people. I can’t stand irresponsible pet owners, and they should not only not have pets but should not have children either. I agree with what you said about rodeos and circuses, but since both of my cats were rescue cases, surely you can’t tell me that my adopting them and caring for them is inhumane if you’re going to say you care so much about the inhumanities of rodeos and circuses. Choose your argument and stick to it. You can’t have it both ways. Also, my animals never get smacked. They have a specific diet because neither can stomach any other food or else they vomit all over the place. They are very clean and never lonely as someone is with them always even on the rare occasions i cannot be. My fiance’s dog has a diverse diet, they even cook for him sometimes but they do not give him food that is unhealthy for him. I take my pets to the vet and take good care of them and provide them with lots of love….I have helped them and given them a second chance but in doing so they have helped improve my life as well. I cannot have children, at least as far as i know because of health issues and hope to one day adopt(I have always wanted to even before I found out I shouldn’t and probably cannot get pregnant), I love children. I donate what I can to various charities. The problem isn’t pets…the problem in my opinion would be the irresponsible pet owners or the ones that

Like others have said, the solution would be to stop parents from having children they can’t afford. My animals are well taken care of I give them a diverse diet and I do not even own a cage for them. They have treated me better than any one human has, in fact if I had the choice to kill either a human I knew or an animal I knew, I would kill the human. For example anyway.

How old are you? You write like a twelve-year old. I’m sorry I wasted my time reading this.

It cost me a hell of a lot less to raise my animals than it would to raise a kid.

This lady needs to chill. Yes it is a free country and we are all entitiled to voice our opinions, no matter how offensive, cruel, or one sided they may be. First of all, I grew up on a farm in Alabama. My earliest memories are of helping my dad and grandfather take care of our farm animals. As an adult I became a veterinary technician and devoted my career to helping animals. I’m an active member in my community in human and animal related charities. When I was 21 I was diagnosed with cervical cancer and went through 3 years of surgeries and treatments that left me unable to have children. I’m single and don’t have the money or means for adoption. Therefore my pets are my children. They are all rescues and I love them dearly. If they are treated better than some children that is sad, but it’s the fault of the people treating the child badly. I’m a good person. I would never harm or mistreat any of God’s creatures. And anyone who could look at another living thing and allow it to suffer because it’s just an “animal” is sick in the head and heart. Plus, it’s a FACT that pets are theraputic to the handicapped and can teach children kindness and responsibility. I’m praying her children don’t grow up with hate in their hearts like mommy dearest. I found this page by trying to research a topic for a friend of mine who is worried about her child starting school next year. I think anyone with Hate in their id name should be banned from a mommy site.

BRAVO!!! We have a world of children that need love, and I see crazy coockoos giving there dogs spa treatments and bring them to dog mind readers. And these people tend to either not have children or get along with thier own species. These people think they are doing some sort of justice to thier dogs, but really dogs would probably be happier living outside then confined to the human schedule anyways.

I’m not sure if I should laugh or feel sorry for this blog! Pets are an important and vital part of living, period. Yes, there are abusers.. just like there are abusers in parents to children, in employers to their employees, etc. My pets don’t get “smacked”, they don’t get yelled at for doing “dog” things. They are treated well, just as my children are/were. Pets are also proven to lower blood pressure, increase life span, decrease depression and so on….. snoring is most often caused because a person is overweight & has fat blocking their nasal path/throat when they lay down. And as far as me being the “master”, you evidently don’t have any pets because if you’re a TRUE pet “owner”.. they own you. In a perfect world all the money in the world would be dispersed evenly, nobody would be starving & nobody would be grotesquely rich…. sorry, Adam & Eve made that one an impossibility. I’ll keep my pets who are quite happy, well cared for and not any worse or better off than my 3 children.

“Imagine if all that money went towards needy children?” Okay, so should we stop buying cars? Home theaters? Tuition? Jesus Christ, it’s called capitalism: I earn my money and I do whatever the hell I want with it.

Instead of writing about how pets are the reason for unfed children and whatnot, why don’t you cancel your internet and help support them with the money you are wasting on it. Just a thought

zoos, in some cases, provide safe refuge from poachers and farmers who destroy animals’ natural habitat….without them, some animals would become extinct

I have to agree with “Shocked” - and to author of this pathetic piece, you need to grow the f*** up. I’d much rather people have pets then pop out kids they can’t afford!

Why not just shoot homeless, put them out of their misery and feed their corpses to all the cute kitties and puppies? That would take care of the homeless problem, animal abuse and the firearms debate all at once? Everybody wins! (Well, except the homeless, and everyone knows they don’t vote)
