What do you think? Is the store that hung this warning family-friendly or family-frightening?

I think it is just a funny sign put up to try to encourage parents to be parents. I have a similar addendum that I have parents sign when I am doing camps and fieldtrips. It says “unclaimed children will be added to my collection so if you can’t pick them up on time just stop by my house if you want them back.” I added it after waiting for several hours and making lots of calls trying to locate the parent or emergency contact for a child that was not picked up from an event I did end up taking her home with us because my only other option was to call child services. Her parents did not realize she was missing for 14 hours because apparently one thought the other would be picking her up. Mom went to spend the night at grandmas and dad thought that the daughter was there too. They were mad at first because I took their child to my home without permission but when I told them that the only other option was child services and that I thought their daughter had been traumatized enough, they started to see the seriousness of what they had done. For most folks my addendum is just a funny note on the bottom of the permission slip. But it covers me for when this happens and I hope it helps parents remember to be parents.

I AGREE TOTALLY. PARENTS TODAY FEEL THAT AS LONG AS THEY ARE IN A BUILDING WITH PEOPLE AROUND, ESPECIALLY IF THEY KNOW THE SHOPKEEPER, THEY FEEL ITS OKAY TO BE SLACK ON THEIR PARENTAL DUTIES. THIS IS WHEN A PREDATOR STEPS IN. BE A RESPONSIBLE PARENT!

No I don’t have kids, and I don’t know how difficult it is to be a parent. How difficult it is still is no excuse, since my mother was a single parent working full time and managed to do all the things mentioned below. Certain things should be expected from parents, in public places for the sake of common courtesy and safety. first, is that they know where there kid is at all times A) there are predators and they may take your child. B) it is also annoying for others when someone’s kid walks up to them in a store and starts chatting. not only is it annoying, but it is not safe. 2nd, is that their children and their parenting does not cause a complete disturbance for other people in public places. A) Don’t scream at your kids so the whole building can hear your scolding B) if your kid is misbehaving, take them outside C) teach your kid not to yell indoors D) teach them basic manners (please and thankyou, excuse me…ect). Some people don’t want to deal with someone elses kids. Not to insult you or your kid but some people find kids more annoying then cute. They don’t want to deal with someone elses child, nevermind their own. I personally love kids, but hate inconsidorate people. It does not matter if they are 4 years old or 40 years old, well enough said, I believe my point is across. Thanks in advance

My doctor’s office has a similar sign, it just reminds us to be parents, you need to be paying attention to your kids so they don’t disappear, or a predator doesn’t get them

I went into a store in Carmel, Ca that has that sign. And it’s a toy store. I thought it was hilarious.
