The Fanny Pack is Back. YUCK!

There is just one word for that item called a fanny pack: fugly. And if even Hollywood's hottest mom can't pull it off, we shouldn't even THINK about throwing that thing around our waists!

We're all about convenience, definitely don't want to carry around a bag the size of a 5th grader, and need our hands free--but resorting to a fanny pack? Please, ladies, only in extreme emergencies (like trekking through the Amazon, maybe).

Recently, celeb mom Brooke Shields was seen out and about at a Jonas Brothers concert looking super cute in colored jeans, flats and a fitted black tee, but the bag around her waist? Not cute at all!

Are fanny packs making a comeback? Before it has a chance to, we came up with five alternatives to this major fashion faux pas that will actually enhance your outfit, not destroy it. Sorry, but if it doesn't look cute on Brooke, it's definitely not going to fly on us. Check out our much more fashion-friendly options...

It’s better looking than those big ugly designer purses that all the stars carry. Especially the ones (think Paris Hilton) who carry their little wimpy dogs in.

Yuck is right! Even if they DO come back in fashion, you won’t catch me sporting one!!

I think it depends on what you wear. Cargo pants (or man jeans are in fashion!), a cute tight baby-t, a nice buzz cut or frizz and studs - throw on the right fanny pack - sweet!

I mean it’s not like she’s got warts. It’s alright….give her a break with two kids in tote she doesn’t have enough hands to do everything.

I agree with foxymama. With two kids in tow, she needs both of her hands free. Fanny packs keep things where she needs them and are less likely to get stolen. Sometimes it’s about getting through the day not looking like you are on a fashion runway. As my grandmother used to say: you can tell the size of a mind by what worries it.

Fugly or not it sure beats having tired aching shoulders from the weight of a big fashion handbag.

This bag does look very fashionable on Brooke and when you are walking in the city or stores with children this is the best prevention from having your valuables like id’s or cash stolen from you. Thanks Brooke for setting the style!!!

Forget Fanny Packs! Get a fashionable Belt Bag from happycow.com.au instead! They are very easy on the eyes, extremely practical and made from recycled leather!

The only fashion faux-pas being committed here is that you can see through her shirt. Folks, you may as well admit it, fanny packs (in the modern age) are coming back. I love the look. I’m not going to buy it in neon nylon, but the one Brooke is wearing is great!
