An Incredible Mother-Daughter Reunion

Saturday, August 16, 2008

This Lifetime Movie Network film tells the incredible true story of how a mother finds her child who she believed to be dead for years.

Judy Reyes from Scrubs stars as Luz Cuevas, the mother who was told her infant daughter died in a 1997 house  fire. There were no remains of the baby--and Luz always had a hunch she was still alive. Luz attended a birthday party in 2004 where she saw a little girl who looked just like her family--Luz just knew this was her daughter. The determined mother started an almost impossible journey of proving that this 6-year-old girl was indeed her baby. Little Girl Lost: The Delimar Vera Story premieres Sunday, August 17, at 8 p.m. EST/9 p.m. PST, on the Lifetime Movie Network. See the clip below--and watch tomorrow night.

My daughter Elaine is the most awesome mother ever. She drives a School bus all day taking kids to and from school;, hollering all the way. Then when she is done she goes home to two Daughters, 15 and 17 years old . Last February for my Birthday, after saving up enough money to fly down to Florida from Connecticut with her two daughters, which I had not seen on over 15 years. Due to not having the money to go up there and not having a car that would make the trip. They got here on a Thursday and were to go home on the following Thursday. We had so little time to spend together, but we did just that and it was the best Birthday Present I have ever gotten from anyone. I don’t even think My daughter or her girls knows how much it meant to me to have all three of them here with me, even for only one week. We went to Sea World 3 times and once to Bush Gardens on the bus. I finally got pictures of them after a very long Wait. I treasure the time we spent together more then they will ever know. I hope and pray that they will be able to come see me again a few more times before I die. Karen Rice

I am writing to you about my youngest Daughter, Elaine. She is a rock. She has two wonderful Daughters Katie 16 and Blythe who will turn 18 in November. My daughter has had a very tough time of it. First off at a young age she was supposed to get married, but when the young man found out that she was going to have a baby, he told her to either get rid of that baby or they were through. My Daughter was devastated and told her boyfriend that she would not get rid of her child so he broke up with her, leaving her to raise that child all alone. Then she met and married the most wonderful young man who had Cancer that was in remission and about a year or more after they got married they found out, there was a baby on the way. Billy lived long enough to see his daughter’s birth and spent time with her even when he was in pain. Then after he died Elaine found what she thought was another really nice man ( which turned out to be a wife beater and her ever time he got the chance) They moved to Tennessee with the two girls and all hell again. He would drink and the more he drank the worse he got with her and the girls. He gave Blythe a black eye and put many bruises on Katie as well. Finally after they had been married for some time she left him and moved back to Connecticut with the two girls. After about two years she Met Steve. I really thought that he was the perfect man for her ( HER NIGHT IN SHINING ARMORE) and she though so too. He was a very kind and giving man. He loved the girls like they were his own. For over 8 years the happiness was so strong and they were so happy. Being here in Florida I didn’t see any problems. when I called her she would tell me about all the wonderful things that Steve had done for her and the girls. He bought them each bicycles and a computer, so we could keep in contact with each other. They were so happy and then the nightmare began. One night at about 1 am in the morning my daughter called me crying into the phone saying he messed
