V.P. Hillary?

Wednesday, August 20, 2008

Guest blogger Ronda Kaysen says Obama would be wise to choose Hillary Clinton as his running mate.

While most political tea leaf readers swear that Hillary Clinton's out of the running for a spot on the Democratic ticket, Ralph Nader has his money on Hillary. The consumer advocate and sometimes election spoiler told Politico.com on Tuesday that he thinks the three men on Obama's shortlist -- Sen. Joe Biden, Sen. Evan Bayh, and Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine -- are a smoke screen. "I don't think he's that dumb," Nader said.

Barack might loathe his rival, but a quarter of Hillary supporters are still holding out for her. Toss in the reality that he's slipping in the polls and threats from Hillaryland that the Clintons will steal the show at the Convention and you've got yourself one tough decision. Nader said, "He just has to swallow hard and do what JFK did" ... which was pick rival Lyndon B. Johnson in 1960 so he could beat Richard Nixon.

(Speaking of Kennedy, others are also speculating that Caroline Kennedy might be Obama's V.P. choice. Thoughts?)

As much as I would think it would help his campaign to pick her as VP, I don’t think it will happen!

This is supposed to be his first and biggest decision as the presumptive presidential candidate. If he can’t get beyond ego and realize for the good of the party and ensure victory in the fall he HAS to pick Hillary, that shows poor judgment.

Hillary Clinton is obama only hope in winning. The poles show he can’t make it he’s going down, he needs her help. Like it or not she can help him win and that is what is important. You can bad mouth her all you want she is his best choice. so get over your hatred and let’s get Obama elected President.

Hillary Clinton is a lying snake just like her cheating husband. I dare Obama to pick her…he’ll lose for sure!

It’s too bad Condoleezza Rice didn’t run for President. She is one smart lady. Now, that would be genius!!! She would make a great VP for McCain though. Are you listening McCain?

I am a life time Democratic voter who will consider voting Republican for the first time if Hillary Clinton is NOT on the ticket- Hillary received votes of nearly (or more than nearly) half of Democrats who have voted this year. She has the experience and the toughness, has shown she can take a punch, and is married to the most successful Democrat since FDR. Gore lost by running from the Clinton’s, and I hope Obama will not do the same.

Dave, McCain is everything that both Obama and Clinton are not: 1. Anti-choice 2. Pro-war 3. This silly drill drill drill thing. (I believe both Obama and Clinton see through this.) 4. Stuck in a state-vs-state way of looking at the world when the problems that confront us are global and required discussion. 5. Promote a tax code with greater tax inequity…talk about “class warfare”. I understand how you might be p*ss-off about Hillary, but come on now, really, McCain? That’s the height of revenge and has no place in politics or life in general.

I voted for Hillary Clinton, so I am hoping that Obama chooses Hillary as his VP Running Mate. I think that they would work well together.

McCain and Obama are for continued funding for the war*, NAFTA, off-shore drilling, the Patriot Act, immunity for Telecom companies and credit card companies, FISA-which allows spying on American citizens… [*Clinton and Obama are not for stopping the war, okay? Obama has said he was against the war, but he’s lucky to have the cop-out of not actually being in Congress at the time or he, too, no doubt would’ve voted pro-war like every other Democrat (ala Kerry.) The anti-war Obama has voted for every war appropriation put before him, and still wants billions more in funding. Not to mention not giving a solid withdrawal date.] Corporate power is the single biggest problem today. It has infested government with billions of dollars and a ratio of 77 lobbyists per Senator and House Rep. Only one candidate mentions the word “corporation” in his speeches and in his platform: That candidate is Ralph Nader.

if obama picks hillary as his vp he better build himself a pope mobile or get a bullet proof vest. Maybe He take the vp slot, otherwise, im not so sure he’ll be around very long if he chooses her.

Well he’s stupid if he doesn’t pick Ms. Hill. If you take look at the polls, then you’ll see that it’s a statistically tied race. But with Ms. Hill on the ticket, he’ll get all the blue collar states. He will definitely lose Michigan without her. And if he loses Michigan, he’ll lose the WhoreHouse. I won’t vote for him if he doesn’t pick Ms. Hill.

Yie Lee, Whether your predictions are correct or not about Obama/Biden in Michigan are correct, I don’t follow your logic. Are you saying that youyou not vote for the Democratic Obama/Clinton ticket because you think they’ll lose? That doesn’t seem like a good plan. Or are you saying that McCain is somehow a better candidate on the issues that matter? If so, talk about that.

I was writing that Obama would lose the blue collar vote if he didn’t put Hillary on the ticket. But now we get a 3AM snub, and Joe Biden? Ugh. Joe Biden is like the color “brown”. It’s solid, blends with everything, and, although no one has anything against it, no one really chooses it as a favorite color. “Biden is brown.” He won’t help the vote. I would have voted Obama/Clinton.
