Back to School Fashion Disaster

As the kids head back to school--and beg us for the latest in Hannah Montana gear or shoes that cost more than healthcare--we got nostalgic thinking about the things we desperately wanted but didn't get.

The momlogic staff reminisces about what they missed out on, from Earth Shoes to zippered jeans.
Back to school shopping can be such a bummer--especially when a kid wants something so badly and the parent flat out refuses. But remember when the roles were reversed and you were the kid? We all dreamed of that one item and begged and pleaded with our parents. We all got over it--and so will they.
What did you want SO badly and didn't get?
| Jill: "Earth Shoes" were in--and I wanted them in the worst way, but my mom bought me saddle shoes instead. When I look at them now, they were pretty ugly--not sure what I was thinking." | |
| Andrea: "When I was in junior high school, all the girls wore Chemin de Fer jeans. I only had two or three but I always wanted more--I was like a junkie." | |
| Julie: "I wanted these jeans with Minnie Mouse on roller skates embroidered on the pocket." | |
| Jackie: "Pony high tops and Jordache Jeans. But I often ended up in my brother's hand-me-down Levi's." | |
| Annie: "A Benetton sweater and Guess jeans with a zipper at the bottom." | |
| Melissa: "White jeans! I begged for them!" |
OH wow! Definitely the zipper jeans and I also LOVED light pink reebok high tops..
fringe jacket and boots!
The “letter sweaters” that were so popular in the mid-80’s. And the perfectly white tee’s to wear under them. Seems all my friends had one (or 2) but me.
Anything and everything Abercrombie.
For just a little while when I was in elementary school the Thriller jacket was a big deal. Remember that one? My best friend got one for Christmas and I was totally jealous! Also, I remember my brothers always tried to dress like John Cougar Mellencamp!
the fringe boots in the late 80’s with my boyfriend’s leather jacket weren’t nearly as awful as the florescent green & black and yellow & black plaid pants that I wore in the early 80’s. Oh the memories…
All I can do is to bump the thread up, and I really learned a lot from our Moderator, and I also have some other viewpoints, maybe we can share it if we have opportunity.

omg…candie’s!
