Got Allergies? Here's What Dog is Best
Tuesday, September 16, 2008
Dogs who shed a lot produce more dander, causing serious allergic reactions.
While you may think short-coat breeds are best, Humane Society of the United States Director of Outreach Stephanie Shain says those dogs aren't always low-shedding -- Labs have short hair but shed constantly. Other dogs, like Huskies and Akitas, shed -- but only twice a year. "It's loads of hair," says Shain, "but only for a short period of time."The American Kennel Club has compiled a list of dogs who tend to shed less, thus producing less dander. There's no guarantee these will curb the sneezes, but anything helps, right?

Nice idea for an article, but halfway through the gallery it switches to “best dog breeds for kids” and starts talking about labs and golden retrievers.

it is not always the dander which causes the allergic reactions some allergic reactions are caused by the protiens in he dogs saliva which is unavoidable no matter what breed you get
