A new high chair hits the stores next spring -- and the price is enough to make you lose your lunch.

Does everything really need to be redesigned? Calla, a new high chair designed by Yves Behar for Fleurville, features a freaky futuristic design and is touted as being "ergonomic." People, a high chair isn't a work station! Kids aren't going to get carpel tunnel from hoisting a fork -- or from inevitably flinging food on to the floor.

The chair isn't available 'til spring of 2009, giving you plenty of time to save the $580 it'll cost you.

The sad thing is that I’ve seen more expensive high chairs. Obnoxiously wealthy people are the ones who buy those. And celebrities. What a waste of money for us normal people!

I think it is a cute high chair however I would NEVER spend so much on something my child is only going to use for maybe 2 years. She perfers mommy’s lap anyway and that is free :)!

HA! If you’re looking for some nice kid’s furniture, look at officedesigns.com for their Knoll stuff. It’s all the beautiful grown up chairs, but mini-ed out for the little ones :) It’s like the womb chair and a couple of Eames products. They’re really sharp.
