Carol Alt: Don't Call Me a Cougar
Momlogic spoke to the supermodel and Celebrity Apprentice star about her book, working with Trump, her raw food diet and her boyfriend who's 13 years younger.
Momlogic: Why did you write your novel, This Year's Model?
Carol Alt: My mother freaked out when I started modeling. This book will help moms with daughters who want to go into modeling.
ML: What do you think about kids who want to model?
CA: It depends on the age. I was 18 when I started--so my parents couldn't stop me--but the best thing I did was keep my family involved in my career. I could always go home--I had a safe haven.
ML: What advice do you have for parents with teenagers who want to model?
CA: Keep her close. If she's 13--never let her go anywhere alone. It always amazed me that 13-year-old girls were staying at peoples' homes who their parents didn't even know. New York is a mecca for con artists. I would never let my daughter go to anyone's home alone. They would never be allowed to sleep out. As much as they hate it, they need to be protected.
