According to a new study, looking at tempting treats helps you lose weight.

Going on a diet? Break out the cookies, cake and chips! According to a new study published in the Journal of Consumer Research, people are more successful dieters when forbidden foods are in plain sight.

Researchers say putting your fave snacks directly in front of you better helps to control your desire for them. They say people feel empowered, motivated and satisfied knowing they've successfully resisted a food by their own choice (versus just feeling like you're depriving yourself).

And here's a sweet surprise: study authors say having candy in large stocks at home might "help women with their attempts at controlling their food intake."

I think this study is full of crap. I can’t have tempting food in my house and leave it alone. Nice job trying to get me to bring cookies and candy in my house

i also have to admit having junk food in my house feels like a slippery slope. if i have a whole bag of candy, i can’t just take one piece, i keep going back to the pantry for more.

Everything in moderation people! I’ve been watching what I eat and maintaining a roughly 1400-1700 calorie intake a day for the last month. And it works! AND we have chocolate bars, gummie candies, cookies, pop, etc IN our house, since hubby likes them and doesn’t need to lose weight.
I haven’t touched the pop in a month, snack on the occasional chocolate bar (like while watching a movie, once a week) and am thoroughly enjoying the homemade cookies I have… IN MODERATION! Just because they are there on my counter doesn’t mean I’m going to wolf them all down. But if I didn’t let myself eat them occasionally, I’d probably binge on a bad/stressful day.

Instead, be smart and go to This is so easy…meals come right to the front door, fresh! No contracts or goofy gimmicks! Real good food in the right portions. Forget these goofy, set-you-up-for-failure-fads!

You are right of course! But one has to know that the caloric value of their junk food. So that they can take care on their intakes. A craving for sweets can attack at any time, so try to make yourself and satisfy the sugar craving by snacking on apple slices with peanut butter. It works for women especially.

Well, humm…let’s see. If it’s around, it’s easier to eat. If it’s not, it’s a whole lot easier to avoid. So what about not buying junk food, period?
