Guest blogger Dani Klein Modisett: We ripped out the concrete behind our house two months after we moved in so we could have a backyard. A year later, we installed a second bathroom so no one would have to pee outside in a pinch. But the other night, I practically cried myself to sleep over the state of our bedroom.

The bed we sleep in, although not a futon, is practically a mattress on the floor. I dream of a big wrought iron bed with lush bedding and light fixtures that cast a lovely glow on my rapidly aging face. I wish I could blame my better half for the state of our room, but I am embarrassed to admit that it seems I am waiting for someone else to sweep in and do all the work. And I doubt the upgrading of our sleeping quarters would interest the "Extreme Home Makeover" people.
Do I not feel worthy of a beautiful place to lay my head down? I bet that's what Dr. Phil would say. Or is it simply that we have limited resources and I'd rather go away with the kids someplace fun? And isn't this really just a luxury, or in my case a "lack of luxury" problem, anyway?
