Bristol Palin's boyfriend to attend GOP Convention: Levi Johnston, the boyfriend of Sarah Palin's 17-year-old pregnant
daughter Bristol, is going to join the Palin family at the Republican
National Convention, according to People.
Levi left Alaska on Tuesday to fly to St. Paul, Minnesota.
GOP vice presidential candidate Palin announced Monday that her daughter is five months pregnant and plans to marry the baby's 18-year-old father.
Daughter stuffs dead mom in suitcase: An 18-year-old man has been charged with murder after the body of his girlfriend's mother was found inside a suitcase in the woods in Texas. A man driving along a secluded private road discovered the body of 55-year-old Maria Rodriguez in a black suitcase in the woods and police later discovered Rodriguez had been reported missing by her husband Friday. The victim's daughter said she helped her boyfriend put the body in a suitcase and then dispose of it. The cause of death was not immediately available.
Stressed moms may raise fat children: Kids under ten years old may seek escape from family problems in unhealthy food, says a study conducted by the University of Illinois. Children in stressed homes with plentiful food are more likely to be overweight or obese than those living in stressed situations where food is scarce because while both react to stress, the former group has food available in which to find comfort. "Our findings are particularly relevant for children between the ages of 3 and 10," lead researchers wrote, because older children can find release outside the home through friends or work.
Smoking hurts women more than men: Women who smoke may develop heart disease at almost the same age as male smokers, eliminating the natural difference between the sexes. Researchers say women who smoke have heart attacks nearly 14 years earlier than women who don't smoke. For men, the figure is about six years. The study found men on average had their first heart attack at age 72 if they didn't smoke, and at 64 if they did. The women had their first heart attack at age 81 if they didn't smoke, and at age 66 if they did. Researchers also say smoking may trigger early menopause, leaving women less protected against a heart attack.
