David Spade confirmed a father: The 45-year-old actor has confirmed rumors he fathered a baby girl born last week in Missouri to Playboy playmate Jillian Grace. "David and Jillian have been in close contact throughout her pregnancy and he plans to go see the baby during his first break from shooting Rules of Engagement," says Spade's rep, Meredith O'Sullivan. Spade announced in January he had a brief affair with Grace, and if proven to be the child's biological father, he would accept responsibility. The baby was born August 26.

Grandparents trap grandson in closet:
An Arizona couple is facing child abuse charges after police discovered they kept their nine-year-old grandson in a small closet and rarely let him out. According to authorities, the boy didn't attend school, can't read or write and weighed only 48 pounds. Becky Lee Tortellet, 50, and Larry Alan Tortellet, 52, were jailed on $50,000 bond each. Police say the closet was 4-feet by 3-feet and had a foul odor of urine and feces. The boy and his 8-year-old brother are in protective custody.

Jamie Lynn Spears sends gift to Bristol Palin?:
The pregnant 17-year-old daughter of John McCain's vice presidential pick Sarah Palin allegedly will receive a present from the famous teen mom. But according to a source close to the Beverly Hills baby store Petit Tresor, it was actually Lynne Spears, Jamie Lynn's mother, who called about the gift, and requested it come from her daughter. "It was ordered by phone, and they asked what could be done for under $100. They spent $60 on pink burp cloths," the source said. Lynne Spears is denying this report.

Mother spared death for microwaving baby:
A jury that couldn't reach a unanimous decision spared Ohio mom China Arnold the death penalty for murdering her infant daughter by microwaving her. The defense had argued that Arnold was drunk when the offense occurred and had no motive, while prosecutors had called the crime "heinous" and pushed for the death penalty. The judge must now sentence Arnold to life in prison without parole, life without parole for at least 30 years, or life without parole for at least 25 years. The sentence will be imposed Monday.

I think she deserves the death penalty. I’m a mom, too. And yes at times it is frustrating, but when I’m “drunk” I don’t think about abusing or killing them let alone actually following through with it. Killing your child, especially a helpless and vulnerable infant, is disgusting.
