Beware: Online job scams: There's a new online scam offering jobs on legit job search sites like Yahoo. Job seekers have reportedly been contacted by a man who calls himself "Mark Peterson" and offers up a customer service job working from home for the toy company Gund. People are then asked to create an account at Wells Fargo (no money required), then told to send cash to a "Robert Nielsen" in Florida to pay for job supplies. A hefty check is then deposited to the account, but the funds can only be accessed if $550 is sent immediately to "Mark Peterson." Obviously the "job" never materializes. The Gund Company issued a statement saying they do not hire people from Yahoo.
