Find out what happened on last night's MTV Video Music Awards--including Britney's appearance, the '80s fashions, and the buzz about the Jonas Brothers' sex lives.
The 25th annual MTV Video Music Awards, hosted by British comic Russell Brand, aired last night--giving moms like us a reason to stay up late and rock out. The show wasn't as polished as it could have been--but sometimes that's part of the fun.
The highlights:
• On the red carpet, Kobe Bryant, hand-in-hand with wife Vanessa, said he was excited for Lil Wayne but, in a stars-are-just-like-us moment, admitted that Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers are staples in his house. (Ours, too!)
• The show opened with Britney Spears welcoming everyone and receiving a standing ovation. She took home three awards, including Video of the Year, and thanked her "two beautiful boys" for being an inspiration to her. She looked so awesome and handled herself so well, she virtually erased memories of last year's fiasco of a performance.
• Throughout the show, the always irreverent Russell Brand mocked the Jonas Brothers' virginity and purity rings. American Idol Jordin Sparks stuck up for virginity by explaining that not everyone wants to be slutty. Brand apologized for his comments, but then said "a little sex never hurt anybody."
• The performances rocked. Rihanna, the Jonas Brothers, Lil Wayne, Kid Rock, and Kanye West sang live. The newly single Pink was absolutely amazing and looked incredible. But we were most interested in new mom Christina Aguilera's powerhouse performance. Her new bangs were mesmerizing!
• Fashion took center stage, as always. Eighties looks were a standout, as was Lindsay Lohan's lady tuxedo. A very pregnant Ashlee Simpson looked great and boasted that her Alexander McQueen dress helped make her three Bs look good--her boobs, belly and booty.
