6. Palin's church has advertisements to help gay people "overcome homosexuality." Right, because gay people--especially in Alaska--choose to be gay in a state where no one understands them just so they can be scrutinized and hated. She also says the Iraq war is "part of God's plan" and that she was "saved." For more on her church, click here. Palin loves her church, and that's nothing to be ashamed about. Last time I checked, we all had freedom of religion, even politicians. And all things in this world are part of God's plan-- even wars.
7. She hid her pregnancy until her third trimester and went back to work three days after giving birth to Trig. What kind of message does this send to pregnant working moms or moms on maternity leave? Bravo! She hid her pregnancy until her third trimester and went back to work three days after giving birth to Trig. It's called women's rights, people. She isn't a whiner who blames her pregnancy or uses a new baby as an excuse to dodge responsibility. She gets things done, and is a go-getter. Even pregnancy can't stop her.
8. She has no idea what her job will be if she's elected. When she was asked about rumors she was going to be picked as McCain's running mate, she asked what exactly the VP did. Click here for the video. It's almost scarier that she thought it was OK to say this publicly. She said she "has no idea what the VP does" because most of the political big-wigs in Washington are do-nothing people. But not her. She'll kick ass and take names when elected VP. She's a maverick just like McCain!
9. She has a travel crib in her Anchorage office and a baby swing in her Juneau one. She signed bills with her son in a swing and breastfed him during conference calls. I'm happy for her. I would do it if I could, but I'd be fired. She is one of the few people in this country who would be allowed to do this. Do the civil servants in her state share this luxury? She has a travel crib and baby swing in her office? That just means she's a dedicated mom. I commend that choice. If I could do it, I would, too. Family first!
10. Palin attended 6 colleges in 6 years. If she can't even commit to a college, how is she supposed to commit 24/7 to our country? I'm not convinced.
So what if she went to more than one college? There's no law against it. She graduated from University of Idaho with a degree in journalism, which makes her qualified to ask the tough questions. That's just what we need!

Who's right in this fight?

I don’t endorse either party and usually vote Republican, but won’t this time. I don’t like Palin. Ab-only sex education evidently does not work, or her daughter wouldn’t be pregnant. If her own daughter didn’t listen to her, what in the hell makes her think other teens will? I almost have to admire her ability to talk out of both sides of her mouth, though. I am ashamed of women who are jumping right on her lying bandwagon.

I find the comment from Red State Mom about freedom of religion to be ironic considering the false claims put out there about Senator Obama.

Been a democrat my whole life until now. I will vote McCain/Palin because the option of voting Obama is ridiculous. Check out his background! Very frightening!! You’re known by the company you keep and Obama has been friends with some very shady characters. No thanks to the DNC and Obama who they’ve shoved down our throats. I would have voted Hillary if she had won, but now I have no choice but vote Republican for the first time in my life.

Heh. I wonder how many of the women in this debate actually know what the VP does. Funny how women will do or say anything to tear each other down.

I am just curious if ame i. has teenagers…I have raised 3. You can teach your values/morals, but when they reach a certain age, you can no longer TELL them what to do and they will make decisions (right or wrong) that you may/may not agree with. I commend Palin for standing with her daughter and her decision. Palin could have been one of “those” moms who said, you are on your own now. You made your decision, now live with it. I don’t think we should base our voting on decisions that our children have done.

I think point #7 is so important. She’s running as the “hockey mom” candidate, yet she is setting moms back by her example. Red State Mom’s response to that one is just ridiculous. You lose credibility when you never concede a point, even ones that you know you lose on. There are way too many abundantly more qualified women candidates on both sides of the aisle. McCain’s selection of Palin insults me and Palin’s acceptance makes me ashamed as a woman/mom.

There are many points that could be added such as Palin taking a zero debt town and putting it over 20 million in the hole. Requesting millions of dollars of “pork” and renovating the governor’s mansion 4 times when you are supposed to be anti-pork. Trying to have your ex bother in law fired. Appealing to have creationism taught in schools which should be religiusly neutral. Shooting bears and wolves form planes and using tax money to do it. Trying to kill polar bears to make way for oil drilling. No way would I ever vote for Palin.

You know as I read the comments by the moms above, I have a taste of disgust, it’s amazing how many mom’s have a grudge because a mother of 5 was picked as a running mate for VP. I see alot of jealousy coming out of all these comments. Would you be saying the same thing if Obama picked Hilary? You all seem to forget when the Clinton’s were in office. Where were the moral values then, what example did Bill set for his children and Hilary standing right by his side as he lied to us THE American public about having an affair and then admitting to it at a later date that he did. Hilary stood by her man, liar and cheating man. But that’s okay, no one is saying anything about that. What do you think, if Hilary had been nominated for VP, Bill would change his ways, doubt that very much. Democrats have done nothing but shamed our country, no wonder other Countries hate us, looking our children running around half dress and almost naked, while boys are running rampage, getting girls pregnant and not taking responsibilty. PEOPLE, WAKE UP AND SMELL THE ROSES!!! Our VP candidate is a way better choice then what the democrats have. And all you mothers out there who think you can all do better, then get your name on the ticket and let’s see. You all should be happy that a woman was nominated as apposed to a man. That’s the problem with the me Generation, all for yourself and not happy for someone who has accomplished alot in their life. Boo for you, hoorah for them. Instead of the negative comments that your slinging try being nice, that will generate to your children and they in return will do something nice back. Most children from the Me Generation have no morals, skills, love or christianity in them, they have no concept of what Jesus Christ means or who GOD is. You all need to be teaching your children about GOD and stop worrying about other people’s lives. Read your Bible, those who get in the Oval Office will be put their by GOD, our GOD has a plan, remember that.

I almost can’t contain myself. My laughter is almost publicly noticeable. Those are the arguments… They’re not even all facts or accurate. And please, by all means keep up the, not cultured, hasn’t needed a passport until 2006 stuff—do you know how many real American’s have don’t have a passport or haven’t left the country? Very effective! “She hid her pregnancy until her third trimester and went back to work three days after giving birth to Trig. What kind of message does this send to pregnant working moms or moms on maternity leave?” —That discrimination is still alive and well and that because she was having the baby she wouldn’t be supported by NOW or Gloria Steinem… Look at the fact that Palin was criticized for going back to work after having a baby—Isn’t that sexist, isn’t that unfair, isn’t that one of the things the Women’s movement was supposed to protect? The Women’s movement: It has occurred to me that it is in the organization itself where there is a distinction, dividing up the group WOMEN. It’s not really an EVERY Woman’s Movement—it’s an as-long-as-you-agree-with-my-dogmatic-ideology Women’s Movement. If you don’t you are only a woman by Chromosome and don’t deserve respect or inclusion—Gloria Steinem. Nice Job Gloria! For years now, I have been trying to figure out what’s the story with the women’s movement. Why do the women most vocal about the movement seem so radical—they’re certainly not mainstream. Is it that we need to be extreme to be heard? After all, as far as my understanding, it’s a movement for women’s rights. Women should be treated fairly and equally—period! It’s gonna get real ugly because the wheels are wobbling on the Obama-cart… —IrascibleChef

I was born and raised as a Republican and actually was a local Rep. delegate, however…… I am really offended by anyone who is supportive of Palin based on the fact that she is a woman and a Mom. That just sets women back eons as the whole point is to look at someone for their actual qualifications and not on their race/sex/marriage status/religion, etc. Palin scares me because of the fact that you can review past documented and supported interviews that show her being supportive of the bridge to nowhere when it suited her purpose. I am scared that she actually thinks it is ok to drill for oil in a pristine nature reserve. There are other locations she could choose. She is in favor of making it legal to “Hunt” wolves by air….basically chasing them down till they are exhausted and then using high powered rifles to kill them. And the fact that she wanted books banned is amazingly scary. Hitler and Stalin agreed with that, too. Yes, there are many books that contain inappropriate language BUT a public library is not the place to censor or ban books. PARENTS MUST BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE for what their children read and see. If you are afraid of what your child will read, then you better be sure they don’t read the news either. I prefer to be available to talk to my children and discuss tough topics in order for them to understand what they are reading and what the REAL world will have in store for them. And, yes, I have 3 children, am a single working Mom.my children are all in accelerated classes, all star in sports and have never been in trouble and are actually peer mentors. Palin is not radical in anything other then supporting out dated and way conservative views that are not in line with the real world that we all must live in eventually. If you’re so CONCERNED with Bill Clinton lying about his affair, what do you have to say about Bush’s LIE ABOUT WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION?! AT LEAST THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE DIDN’T DIE WHEN CLINTON LIED! Get over yourselves AND your hypocrisy!

So many people are saying what a wonderful Mother Sarah Palin is, I don’t agree or disagree. However, if that is going to be part of the deciding factor on who we vote for, let me say that Joe Biden is a wonderful Father. He has proven that by refusing to live in D.C so that he would not have to relocate his 2 sons after the death of their Mother. Sen. Biden has always been very involved in the every day lives of his sons and even took the oath of office at their hospital bedside. Being a Delawarean and having the privilege of knowing Sen. Biden I can say that if I have to vote based on parenting skills, as a single Mom I KNOW Sen. Biden would be my choice since he completely understands what I go through everyday! So, let’s actually look at the issues and stands of each canditate, ignore the gender issue and parenting issue, and decide who will lead our country best based on their backgrounds and proven record. Sarah Palin is NOT the presidential candidate, John McCain is. Where does he fit into all this ???? I know I would rather have Obama backed by Biden then McCain backed by Palin.

Oh, and the $46,000 in travel fees to take her family about include her husband to compete in a sledding race? And charging the state of Alaska to sleep at her own house for 312 out of 365 days? And a hotel room for $700 a night when $300 a night rooms were available? This is responsible spending? When questioned over the 312 nights she removed the notations that they were at her home but it was still paid. Oh, and the line item veto for the teen pregnancy support? Please, people start LOOKING AT THE FACTS and stop blindly following someone just because she’s a woman. I’d feel the same way if she were a man - she’s got too many things to hide. Troopergate, overspending, LYING about the bridge to nowhere - read the site ans SEE THE FACTS! Idiots, idiots, idiots.

Uh, as far as whether Sarah Palin has traveled to other countries, let alone had international experience as an elected official: It’s not about how sophisticated or “real” she is, people, it’s about whether she’s qualified to lead the most powerful, influential country in history! I daresay a woman who has barely stepped out of Alaska is hardly in a position to go to head to head with Russia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia or North Korea, or even to function as a partner to our friends and/or allies. Can anyone really imagine this woman one step away from being leader of the free world?

She hid he pregnancy because she was embarrassed - a good mother tells her children what’s going on. Good grief. She’s selfish and keeps too many secrets. “Initially Palin hid her pregnancy – and her pain – from both the public and her children, son Track, now 19, and daughters Bristol, 17, Willow, 14, and Piper, 7. “Not knowing in my own heart if I was going to be ready to embrace a child with special needs,” she reveals, “I couldn’t talk about it.” On April 18, 2008, Palin gave birth to 6-lb., 2-oz. Trig, five weeks early. As Todd and their three daughters gathered around the bedside (Track, an Army private, listened in by phone from his base in Fairbanks), Willow said of the new arrival, “He looks like he has Down syndrome.” Palin, who says her own qualms were laid to rest “the minute [Trig] was born,” felt a lump in her throat. “If he does, you know you will still love him, Willow. It’ll be okay.” Willow pressed: “But why didn’t you tell us?” Palin admitted she didn’t know how to break the news. “I was a little shocked,” says Willow “but I don’t care – he’s my brother and I love him.”

“On April 18, 2008, Palin gave birth to 6-lb., 2-oz. Trig, five weeks early.” Five weeks early because she flew to Texas, without telling the airline which is against their regulations! She lies whenever it’s convenient. When her water broke during her speech she FLEW BACK to Alaska from TX while in labor putting everyone on the plane in jeopardy and AGAIN not telling the airline that she was pregnant let alone in labor. Someone who lies continuously and puts others in jeopardy is NOT VP material! factcheck.org politifact.com Find out the truth and stop assuming everything written about her by us “liberals”, like I’m a liberal, whatever, is false. These sites show you the facts and back it up with links. Read and learn you blind followers and those of you accusing Obama of crazy stuff. See which side has more liar-liar-pants-on-fire comments. Gesh, you people are voters and THAT’S SCARY!
