Here's the latest news on Stephanie Nielson, author of the Nie Nie Dialogues blog and mother of four who was badly burned in a plane crash with her husband Christian.

For the past few weeks, we've been keeping you posted on the progress of mom blogger Stephanie Nielson, an Arizona mother of four who was badly burned in a plane crash along with her husband Christian. Stephanie suffers from burns on 83% of her body and Christian suffers from burns on over 30% of his body.

Yesterday, Stephanie had skin grafting surgery and momlogic just got the results. Stephanie's arms, back and legs were grafted with her own skin and the operation went well. In a few days, doctors will assess whether or not her body will accept the new skin, but for now, Stephanie is in very critical condition.

According to her sister Courtney's blog, Christian is slowly becoming coherent, and even brushed his teeth.

Christian's sister Alice posted her brother's progress on her own blog, explaining how both Christian and Stephanie have health insurance, although there is a "lifetime maximum" amount of $1 million. The hospital may write off most of what the insurance company won't cover, but they have lots of bills ahead, due to years of out-patient treatment ahead of them. In fact, Stephanie's medical costs alone are estimated at $5 million.

Alice also reports that late flight instructor Doug Kinneard's family is doing well, despite their loss. Doug died in the plane crash.

We will keep you posted on the Nielson family.

My thoughts and prayers go out to those involved in this tragic event. Burns are a long road to recover from, and all families involved will need everyone’s help to get through this trying time.

This is an amazing story. When I read Nienie’s blog, I smile as often as I cry. She makes the smallest things seem larger than life. I wish her the best recovery, along with her husband. May her children be healthy and optimistic, for greater things will come in the future. Thank you for the update. A.B.
