The Greenest Museum in the World

Designed by world-famous Italian architect Renzo Piano, the $488 million dollar museum, located in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, will open its doors to the public on September 27th. The new "green" museum will not have any air conditioning and will consume 30% less energy than required by San Francisco's building codes. The Academy will use reclaimed wastewater from the city of San Francisco for some of its internal plumbing and public landscaping needs. Plus, a "Living Roof" will absorb nearly two million gallons of rainwater per year. Our favorite thing about the museum: it's entirely insulated with nontoxic, second-hand blue jeans. Gotta love that.
How cool is that?!
