50 Students Possibly Infected with HIV


Officials plan to start HIV testing at Normandy High School in suburban St. Louis where as many as 50 students may have been exposed to the virus that causes AIDS. A St. Louis County spokesman Craig said Wednesday the mode of transmission in the scare could include sexual activity, drug use, piercings or tattoos. The St. Louis County Health Department said last week that one positive HIV test raised concerns that students at Normandy might have been exposed. Officials wont say whether the infected person was a student. Testing at the school is beginning this week.

Something is definatly fishy here. How do they come up with the figure “50 students?” And if it was one of the students, why would they, or their parents go to the school board to make them aware of it?
If a teacher or student has HIV I think the school should be required to inform the parents, students and fellow teachers.
