Breastfeeding Not the Cause of Sagging Breasts

Contrary to popular belief, experts say breastfeeding is not a likely cause of sagging breasts post pregnancy. Lead author Dr. Brian Rinker says many women undergo plastic surgery to counteract the effects of pregnancy on their bodies, with the common post-partum complaint of sagging breasts. However, the study found other factors - such as older age, higher body mass index and a history of smoking -- are responsible for breast sagging experienced by new moms. The study showed older age, high BMI, multiple pregnancies, larger pre-pregnancy bra cup size and history of smoking were significant risk factors. The research will be published in "Aesthetic Surgery Journal."

I agree with Suzanne, mine were perky before I breastfed, and now they look sad.
I’m 40, NS, weigh 115 and have an A cup - breastfed 2 babies when I was 32 and 37, respectively. My breasts are still the same shape and in the same location. So, I do believe it has to do with breast mass.
Guess there is some benefit to being small.
This is not new news. Studies have shown that it is the hormones of PREGNANCY, not breastfeeding that have a big impact on sagging breasts.

I completely disagree and think this study is incorrect. My breasts were just finem perky even, until I had my daughter and breastfeed her. After I stopped they were completely different, a little deflated and saggy. I don’t smoke, I weight about 5 pounds more than I did before I had my daughter, my BMI is fine and I’m only 32. Breastfeeding played a huge role.
