Cows have more of a negative impact on the environment than cars, according to new scientific research. Dr. Andy Thorpe, an economist at the University of Portsmouth in the UK, discovered that a herd of 200 cows produce annual emissions of methane that is equivalent to a car burning 21,400 liters of gas! Methane is thought to be responsible for many effects of global warming. The study did find, however, that the cow's chronic bad breath can become less toxic with an altered diet.
