Last week, we told you about the Banana Diet. But now other fruits are getting in on the act.
THE APPLE DIET - This is a cleansing diet that is supposed to help rid the body of toxins. For three or four days, eat nothing but raw apples. Organically-grown apples are preferable and you should eat at least 6 a day. At the end of the third day, you should drink down about 2 oz. of olive oil to help your body cleanse. Apples have a lot of fiber and will absorb water ... so be sure to drink plenty of water.
THE PINEAPPLE DIET - This is a pineapple lover's dream. The premise is simple, eat as much pineapple as you can stomach for several days before gradually introducing regular food back into your diet. Keep your caloric intake to less than 1,000 calories a day. Too bad there are more calories than that in fresh pineapple pina colada alone.
THE GRAPEFRUIT DIET - This one's been around since the 1930's and supposedly helped those glamorous Hollywood screen sirens fit into their gowns. The idea is simple; eat half a grapefruit before each meal. The enzymes in the fruit are supposed to help break down fat. One catch -- dieters are limited to 800 calories a day. Duh, anyone would shed pounds if they stuck to 800 calories a day.
THE COCONUT DIET - This diet is based on the idea that coconut oil aids metabolism and can help you burn of calories more efficiently. Yes, you eat coconut but you also consume up to four tablespoons of coconut oil a day. People who have done the program suggest phasing the oil into your diet slowly to avoid cramps and diarrhea.
