Ford introduces a new device that allows parents to control the speed, stereo sound, and seat belt usage of teen drivers.
If you're like most parents of a teen driver, you may worry each time your kid gets behind the wheel.
Well, a new device may soothe some of your stress: Ford has created a system called MyKey which limits a car's top speed, how loud its stereo can be and blasts irritating and continuous warnings if seat belts are not worn.
The controls, which go on sale in 2010, will appear first on the Ford Focus, and then become standard feature on Ford, Lincoln and Mercury models as they are updated.
The best element of the MyKey system? It limits the top speed of a car to 80 mph. Other options will let parents decide if warning tones should sound if a car goes faster than 45, 55 or 65 mph.
