Momlogic's Jackie: Just like I was never going to let my kids crawl on an airport floor or watch TV before the age of two, I find myself doing another thing I said I'd never do ... dressing them alike. (gasp!)
I was one of those women who knew exactly what I would and would not do when becoming a mother. I judged moms everywhere (maybe even you) and was so smug in my conviction. And one thing I was dead set against was doing the matchy-matchy thing with my kids. Who does that? Yuck... SO cheesy.
But when my boys were born 16-months apart, I found myself finding cute matching outfits -- "wow, they have it in 24 mos and 3-6 mos... I have to get it!"
Well, they got to an age where it started getting less cute and I forced myself to stop.
But those days are gone. Now I'm back to dressing them alike at times -- completely out of necessity. Several days a week at the crack of dawn, my house sounds something like this...
"Nooooooooo, that's MY Buzz Lightyear shirt!"
"I want Spiderman sandals TOOOOOOOOO!"
"Mooooooooooommmmmmmmmmmm!"
If I don't buy the other one the same shirt, shoes -- even accessories like Red Sox hats and Diego sunglasses -- it's like I've committed the worst mom sin ever! And to be honest, I just don't feel like hearing about it.
So if you see my kids out and about dressed alike, don't judge. It's for world peace.
