Moms, Quit Dressing Up at School!

Guest blogger Dawn: Don't make this day about you.

a cheerleader holding pompoms

I went to my kids' Halloween parade this morning, and there were a couple of moms who were dressed totally inappropriately, trying to steal the spotlight from their kids. They wore skirts that were way too mini and belly shirts -- and they both weighed at least 200 lbs. They were running around posing for pictures in their "costumes." Hello?!? I thought this day was supposed to be for the KIDS, not the moms!

One boy was Troy from "HSM," and his mom was Gabriella. A 40-year-old Gabriella? Come on!

I'm all for moms dressing up during trick-or-treating ... but at school, it's your kid's day. Quit trying to steal their focus.

Do you think moms should dress up for the school parade?

I dont think that the moms are trying to steal the shine. I think they are just trying to encourage their children to dress up. Yes, I do agree that they should not be dressing like they’re 16, but c’mon do you really think they are trying to steal their kids shine? I don’t think so!

there are weirdos that go to far. but i am a mom and i was way more excited to dress up than my 6th grade daughter. i couldn’t make her more excited, so i just focused on my own costume. then again, i’m a young mom, so that might have something to do with it.
